Looks like he's been getting in some good training, without injury. Interesting to see what he can do this spring.

Rid yourself of this self-inflicted misery. It was over years ago.
I just want to see him run healthy for a full year. I would give it a chance. He is one of the most talented guys to come along in the last 10 years. Puskedra came back. Jager was injured for a long time before the last few years. Infield got healthy and medaled.Ritz got hurt a lot and managed a good career.

Bout friggin time!
This is the right season to be back/better!!
WTF, hes out in the country, but running on a PAVED road. This guy should be on grass or something soft as injury prone as he is.
That looks like Sauvie Island. They do a lot of tempo stuff there.
I think he looks relaxed. Is a sub-3:32 in the offering this season?
What a cool deal if he re-emerges in a big way this spring. His talent and guts are proven. To see someone like him bust out after so long and do big things would be inspiring.
What event will be to for at the trials? I think he'd have a better crack at the 5 than the 15
Nice to see about German. Sounds like the team still believes in him enough to put some assets into his training. Also, guess that answers the question about Bumbi. If he's pacing GF on a bike, he must be hurt. The thing about German is if he just gets in a few months uninjured he might pop off a 3:33 or 13:15. Which would be great.
He'll pop off a half decent race then completely disappear until next year. Same story every year.
About time we heard some news on how he is doing.
I'm glad he is running and not injured.

Not one of those people were "out" for this long of a time.

Fernandez was healthy and racing pretty frequently (by Schumacher standards) last year and yet was still consistently mediocre. This whole "if he gets healthy he'll be fast!" thing used to be true, but it isn't anymore and hasn't been for several years now.
Awesome Pic!
Looks smoooooth - keep positive and maybe it can happen - He's not giving up yet MF'ers.
Go for it!!!!!!
rooting hard for this guy. How awesome a story would it be if he somehow made it all the way back?
It remains to be seen whether Schumacher can coach a medal contender at 1500. His training seems geared towards the steeple, 5k, and above. Certainly his athletes have run fine 1500s (Teg, Solinsky, Lamong, Jager), but only as w complement to their focus on running fast at 5k and steeple. I'd bet Fernandez is aiming for the 5k outdoors.

I'll join in as well on this. Really pulling for German. Been following him closely since HS and as someone who's running career has followed a similar (albeit much slower) trajectory, I know how frustrating it can be, but I would love to see him make it back to peak fitness. To say he is talented is a huge understatement.

Agreed on trainin.
As for German, I would love to see him fast again. He was unbelievable at 17/18. 4:00/8:34/14:24 Xc ca state record and then going 3:55/7:47/13:25 as well as winning ncaa 1500 from the front. He was amazing to watch. It's funny because I can remember all of those specific moments and races, not all runners stand out in that way. I was there in person for the USA 5k when he ran 13:25 and it was a thing of beauty. Ran his own race and eventually caught the leaders. Obviously he didn't have the final gear at the end but in the moment no one knew what was going to happen. I also remember after that race I thought he would go under 13 in college. If only his career went that way! Even if he never gets "it" back he still has all those performances that I'll probably never forget.
That's because he said he was doing a fartlek. Should look relaxed

I agree Jerry Schumacher is better coaching the longer track races than 1500, but come on man! Please list for me ALL of the USA 1500m medal contenders, any coach?!The last few years all I can think of are Manzano and Centrowitz. So, there's not a lot 'medal contender' athletes to even coach. AND, jäger ran 3:32 under Schumacher, the second fastest American of last year I believe. I'm pretty sure he could've run near 3:30 at Monaco if he wasn't running 8:00 steeple. Your comment isn't fully cooked
