How about reimbursing parents who pay 95% of the living, training, and travel expenses for USATF elite athletes
-
Some of those people already make some serious coin.

Here's an official copy of the letter that came with
Attn. Developing Athletes,
We made out real good on the Millrose Games so here's almost one whole real world paycheck we'd like to share with you. And Mr. Curtis, this is your last one so don't spend it all in one spot.
Thanks again to everyone for their life sacrifices and showing us talent only small numbers of human beings posses.
We wish you well,
USATF -
Uceny is kind of a weird choice for a "developing athletes" grant. She seems to be pretty far from the developmental portion of her career.

Effectively, it's just sharing a small amount of the USATF's Nike money with some Nike and non-Nike athletes, although I'm sure it's appreciated by the athletes.

I know so many 14:00 guys who are basically working 20h week at a shoe stores and living off mom+pop while they chase some delusional dream that is veiled behind courage/yolo.[quote]You owe my Mommy wrote: -

What are you doing that $300 grand 'almost a whole paycheck'? I wouldn't mind living in your 'real world'. -
How much did Hightower, Geer, and Segal siphon off the top?
-
I'm guessing he's talking about Merber and the $3000 he got. Which, is about equals the untaxed amount of a paycheck for someone who makes $72000 and is paid bi-monthly.
Welcome, to the "real world."

Kind of a random list. Perhaps "deserving athletes who somehow don't have great sponsorship deals" would describe them. I do think Boris Berian is well deserving by any standard, and Stephanie Garcia has a chance to upset Emma Coburn in the steeple.
-
Meb didn't get any money because he resigned with Skechers until 2023, and it was a $10M deal.
He is not in need of this grant. -
Maybe I'm getting trolled but this has nothing to do with USATF and Hightower and Siegel. It's private fundraising and allocated by an independent board that is not the USATF board. Candidates are required to submit an application. Your favorite undeserving runner may (or may not) have filled out the application.

In my browsing of your link I looked at the application. One of the criteria in order to qualify for a grant is to make -
It's rotten how athletes have to beg for 'USATF Foundation Money' when Geer, Hightower, and Segal directly dip into Nike Coiffers at will to line their pockets.

Yeah, i would not consider a former DL champion "developing". Nor Montano either.
