The biggest gaffe was not setting an additional water station like they said they would. Flanagan almost needed Last Rites. Seriously if someone had a serious heat injury they would have been sued to kingdom come.
If you read the athlete review thread, there is a lot of positive feedback as well as negative. But the negative gets all the buzz.

There was too much global publicity given for only a qualification race. Next time just hold in an obscure town like Houston again.

None of the out-of-town USATF paid staff and 'gravy train' members gave a hoot about us runners, not with the Grammy's in town, next door, with singers staying in the same hotels. Rather they became selfie hounds seeking Taylor, Ariana, and Beyonce.
