A. Thanks for the yahoo comment right off the bat. It really set up my expectations for the rest of your "thoughts".
B. What is your local race? I would like to also never recommend any one run it based off your ringing endorsement.
C. So did they have the race at 10 am to simulate Rio conditions or to satisfy TV obligations? I find the latter more likely. Again, sure you make a good point. A bigger TV audience is good for the sport, but that doesn't mean I have to give them credit for "trying to simulate Rio conditions". Trust me if the opposite scenario was the case and a freak cold front was coming in at 10 am and at 8 am it was more Rio like temps they wouldn't have moved the race up. Also stated previously, I do hope it gives the US team an advantage. I will be cheering my a-- off for the Red, white, and Blue.
D. Yes some of the best that are paid to run did relocate to a warmer climate. Those of us, who you already stated had no chance of making the team, have full time jobs and families to think about. How would you go about selling that to a spouse or a boss? "Hey everyone, I'm going to uproot my life for the next few months so I can train in a warmer climate and get the same medal I would have got even if I stayed." Nice in theory, but not practical in real life.
E. Pampered babies? Again with the name calling. Every time you do this it weakens any legit argument you have. I think anyone who earned the right to toe the line that day and finished is hard core in my book. Unless you ran that day, you have no idea. It was seriesly dangerous running conditions.
