Chris Barnicle = Greatest performance of the 2016 OTM

This only adds to the legend of Barnicle. For a little while he was unarguably the most interesting man in track and field. When he was at his peak a few years ago it was simply incredible watching him interact with other professionals- they just couldn't handle his charisma.

No he can't. If you saw him he looked terrible and has gained a lot of weight from his competitive days. To be honest there should have been a course time limit to prevent this.

Some people may think something like this cool or inspiring but I think it is embarrassing that this happened at out Olympic Trials. This is supposed to be a showplace for the best runners our country has to offer. I know he had the qualifier but there needs to be a limit. Maybe pull them when they get lapped or fall off 3hr pace.

A time limit would be fine, but there wasn't. Get over it. He earned and did his thing. I assume Skuj is Finnish for "didn't qualify"

Yeah, but plenty of other qualifiers ran over 7:00 pace at these trials. They either make the standard tougher than the Olympic standard, which would rile up some of the pros, or they keep it the way it is.

Without the heat, I'm sure Barnicle would have BQ'd.

Not sure what you are implying, but there were definite timing issue.

Look at the women's results. The splits are non-sense. They had some of the leaders with one hour pace between mats.

I believe his goal was 4:20/k splits. Not sure but it's what I heard.

Weed is OK but there is a time and place for everything. The time and place is not the Olympic Trials.

His point in Barnicle is faster than you will ever be. Despite his hobbies, and the fact that he looks like he rolled out of bed and walked directly to the starting line, he did something that 99% of us here have never nor will ever do: qualify for the OT. He wasn't a barely-qualifier either. 1:02 is damn good, and that 28:10 isn't too shabby either. He earned his spot on the line. If he chooses to walk, jog or whatever, so what - he earned it. It takes balls to show up for a race when you know people will be talking not because of how fast you ran, but how slow. 1:02. He has nothing to prove to anyone. I remember Jerry Lawson running 1:01 and 2:09, then running 2:47 at the trials. I commend any elite that has the balls to suck it up and finish when a DNF'ing has become commonplace.
