They went through a mile at 4:17-4:19 and closed their last 1k in 2:30. Ran around 4:03 for the last mile.
Not true. From the video, it looks like they pass the halfway mark in 3:55, meaning even splits.
Still a very impressive performance, especially since he's planning on peaking for outdoor season. He should be able to break 3:38 OT standard. Hey, Ryun's 3:36.1 is a fairly soft record (mile seems untouchable though)
Actually the guy that said 4:17-:19 is pretty close. Plus another poster just posted splits, so case closed. But, for the sake of helping you use logic... "From the video", notice they start at the beginning of the backstretch (actually a bit setback from the tangent point). This is because the track is longer than 300m (307m?). So the halfway point would logically be just a touch before the top of the turn with just under 5 laps to go. The leader crossed that approximate point at 4:00. So that's what, a 4:18-:19 mile? (Exactly what the poster above states.) So yeah, his last mile was likely no slower than 4:04, depending on where they truly shifted from 4:19 pace to low-4:00 pace.
