Desi was amazing out there. She and Meb look about as likely to DNF a marathon as their local 5k fun run -- not likely at all.
Desi is clutch and a class act to boot. Awesome runner.

I loved Desi and then I read her Wikipedia page where it lists her other interests as: collecting whiskey and tapestries
Now I love her even more
She also referenced greek lit in her NBC interview
Calling her training feeling like a sisyphian task
amazing
Did everyone else just know she was going to make a run at the leaders?
The announcers had just said she was going to take the first half as easy as possible and then they wondered why she didn't go with the break at 9 miles.
Seems like a cool little dude.
Another big Desi fan here.
The fact that I've seen very few negative comments about her on Letsrun of all places really speaks to how well liked she is.
What about Molly Huddle?
I like Desi too anyway.

Molly desi and Jenny are my trinity yeah
Only flaw in desi is that she doesn't do xc or track much. Always admire runners who do well outside their comfort zone
I like desi too and was definitely cheering for her yesterday. That said, watching an interview with her is agonizing. So boring!
Meb.

I do not disagree that lots of people were pulling for her (except maybe the Goucher camp for a while), but I am thinking Meb has that title. I heard that the press corps was applauding him at the press conference (a little unprofessional perhaps).
Most likable? Definitely Rupp.
Nah it's definitely not Meb. One just has to come on here to see how many people are saying he's not a real American, etc.
She was AWESOME in the Lord of the Rings trilogy too!
No. Amy and Shalane are much better looking.
Desi is the runner that I most like, followed closely by Rupp. I don't dislike any of the runners that did well yesterday. I feel kind of sorry for Kara Goucher, not for finishing fourth but for allowing herself to get trolled into making wild comments again and destroying the good will she had partially built back up. But I don't dislike her and I think she maybe ran the most courageous race.
This is LetsRun in a nutshell!! Laughably pathetic. Just 2 days ago there was a 7 page thread going around vilifying her due to her comments about Ritz joining her group. For ex: "She's an absolute nobody. Needs to keep her mouth shut." ....And now she's the most likable runner on the distance scene? I'm sorry, but I define a 'shitehole' country more by the character of it's people than by it's GDP. USA! USA! USA!
I've always very much liked Desi and was extremely happy to see her win.
I don't think people appreciate how exceptional Shalane is, though. Besides her accomplishments, she's extremely smart and articulate, very funny (those Nike videos show she could have a show biz future), and she's generous and supportive teammate. What's not to like?
Not especially.

I was literally just thinking the same thing. Everyone now saying how much they love Desi when two days ago everyone was saying how awful she was on speaking up about Ritz.
