Exactly what I was thinking. Salazar wouldn't be able to watch this without crying.

This course is absolutely awful. Couldn't they run loops in Santa Monica along the coast?
Big pack went by at 14 miles. About 15 guys. Arciniaga, McCandless and Cabada have all been dropped.

right. i guess. looking at the map. whatever.
They are talking about Diego, but he doesn't look super good to me right now. Neither does Quigley.
My picks are looking tough. Rupp, Ritz, and Ward.
Anyone know if Arciniaga is still in the lead pack?

Meb looks stiff, not fluid. Looks breathing a bit heavy this early. Anyone else think this?
Meb must run like me. Super stiff at the start and taking like 20k to warm up. He's looking better every mile. That's what running as a Master is like!

Why does Ritz have his shades on top of his head? Why not toss them?
Perhaps he's getting paid to wear them.
Women's race is getting exciting. Taylor, Cragg, Flangan and Hall have a gap of about 6 seconds up front on Bawcom, Krifchin, Goucher and Linden. Looking like the team will be three of those eight women.
Men’s race
Mile 1: 5:04
Mile 2: 5:07 (10:11) Arciniaga gets a gap of a couple meters on the field. Closed down quickly.
Mile 3: 5:01 (15:12)
Mile 4: 5:01 (20:13)
Mile 5: 5:08 (25:21) McCandless slight lead
Mile 6: 5:11 (30:32) McCandless still in lead
10k: 31:34
Mile 7: 5:12 (35:39)
Mile 8: 4:51 (40:30) Chelanga pushing, Kibet joins him. Then Rupp and Ritchie.
15k: 47:12 (15:38) Bobby Curtis dropped
Mile 10: 5:02 (50:40)
Mile 11: 5:02 (55:42). Lead pack is about 25 guys
Mile 12: 5:12
20k: 63:02 (15:50)
Half marathon: 1:06:32
Mile 15: still a BIG group of men
Women’s race
Mile 1: 5:57
Mile 2: 5:49 (11:46)
Mile 3: 5:44 (17:31)
5k: 18:03
Mile 4: 5:38 (23:09)
Mile 5: 5:50 (28:52)
Mile 6: 5:52 (34:50)
Mile 7: 5:44 (40:36)
Mile 8: 5:50 (46:26) Kellyn Taylor has been leading, she’s pushing slightly. Cragg, Flanagan behind her, then Hall, then slight gap.
Mile 10: 5:32. Cragg, Flanagan, Hall and Taylor have broken away. Linden pushing in second pack with Goucher, Bawcom, Krifchin. Then big gap to third group.
Janet bawcom.
Not tracking --- he's with the pack at 15. This coverage stinks on TV
Ward looks like Brian Sell today with that 'stache and big sun glasses.
Is this the only tracker?
Cragg and Flanagan are running a brilliant race. Allow Taylor to push the pace and once there was a break, push it themselves, knowing only Desi can pick them up.

Kara looks a little uncomfortable to me and not quite as relaxed as the girls in the front group. if the men hit halfway in 1:06/1:07 it must be a jog-fest for Galen...
Yeah, she's looking bad. Can't tell if it's nerves or something else...right now I can see her taking a page out of her husbands book...too fast too early and DNF. But, could just be a bad patch too...

Did you ever see him run?
Ward looks great on the front of that pack

might as well do it in San Diego. Cooler and more scenic. They could add a hill by Torrey Pines too.
