Flanagan and Desi are off by them selfes and then there is a group of 10 or so runners with sub 2:32 or ~70 hm who are contenders.
If I had to guess she finishes 5th.
Yeah. But she's sucked/underperformed in the marathon. Doesn't have it. No comparison between the half and marathon. Even her half time should be faster, relative to her shorter distance PRs.
2:31 isn't exactly sucking it for 70 min HM person. It is at the slower end sure but it isn't crazy slow the way the 2:48 was. For reference it is better than how Ritz ran his first marathons (2:14 for a 13:16 guy is pathetic, 2:11 is a bit better but still 4 mins slow. Granted Ritz's top end times are much better than Sara's). Maybe Sara figures things out (or just have an even where things go right) and she drops another 3-4 mins off that time.
Or maybe the race for 3rd is slow. Maybe you just need a 2:30 to make the team.
Or of course Chicago could have been the race where everything went right for her and her more normal marathon is a 2:37. Time will tell.
