Different people are affected differently, but in general: if you're engaged in an indoor season, you can pretty much write him off for the rest of it.
OTOH if you're simply prepping for outdoor season, he might well be okay when the championships arrive in late May and after. In training terms, his blood loss *may* show up more obviously in some of his interval work now, while his distance runs in training may be less affected. (But I can also say that, for some kids, precisely the opposite seems to be true!)
Standard guidance for a coach would be to tell your teams not to donate blood within three months of a meet that's important to them.
