This, kind of. I don't think he was shilling for Bud; he was genuinely planning on getting plastered with Bud Light. Football people prefer piss beer over good beer, which is commonly referred to as "f@g beer." Why an IPA with an 8% abv would be considered more "gay" than foam water with a 4.2% abv is anyone's best guess.
He was absolutely shilling for Bud. He owns two AB distribution centers with his non-football brother (or maybe a brother-in-law?). Big money in that, plus he probably plans to enter that business and is trying to step foot into it now that football is over. He seems like the kind of guy who loves big corporate chains, so it doesn't really surprise me. Whatever, to each his own. I like stronger beer and good food but I have really good friends who like drinking Beast Light and prefer fast food. I still like them as people. Manning seems like the kind of guy that would get really geared up to go eat wings at Chili's or something. Whatever, good for him.
I don't really care much about the companies, to be honest, but I just have a hard time drinking Budweiser because you need to chug like 4 of them to even get a buzz. That is fine if I am out day-drinking and plan to drink for hours and hours, but if I am out with friends and just want to have 3-4 beers, I want to get a decent buzz.
Budweiser has done a decent hatchet job on the craft beer movement, but the veil is thin. Most of the craft breweries in the USA are hard working, blue-collar men who just make good beer.
