Good point. Without computers, we got people to the moon. Now we need the Russians to get us just to outer space.
As a business owner, it hurts my heart to see these threads.
Hopefully, none of us are working at your business. It's the risk you take as an owner. The risk might be great, but so can the reward be if you're a great leader.
This thread is why we are ready for the 35 (or even 30) hour work week. For at least two generations now, most people have not put in a full 40 hours of real labor in a week. And yet, our society has not come to a screeching halt. We all still have all the things we need to live comfortable lives. Although not in every job, but I think this "slacking off" is especially true in the white collar sector. But guess what, that's not a bad thing. A job that requires focused attention to generally boring information is so mentally draining that people can only really do it for 4-5 hours a day. The work day needs to be "padded" with leisure for the sanity of the worker. This is just the way it is. If we could all stop pretending to work 8 hours a day and start to make is common to work 6 hour days, or just work 4x8 days a week, our economy would not suffer one bit.
