15:21! Wow - that is one strong runner. NCAA ladies got their hands full.

That was a great debut track 5K for Allie. Is this level of performance sustainable? Is she somehow peaking too early in the season? I guess we'll find out as the year progresses. No matter - it was a great run!
One second off of Sarah Disansa's AJR, which was set a little over a year ago (Disansa essentially disappeared after from injuries).
The scary thing is that Allie seems even better suited to the 10000, wonder when that will happen?
Speaking of which, where is Sarah Disanza? Is there hope of her coming back? Anyone know? She was suddenly brilliant at the end of 2014 and then poof. Vanished
Dang... she, as a college freshman, beat Jordan Hasay's all-time PR with her debut.
Injuries :(

some rough splits:

ideal for the marathon. I know its way too early to predict, but it seems like Allie is a possible future marathon star.
She has already been running the Mt Marathon every year. Last year she got 2nd behind Emelie who is on the cover of Trail Running magazine this month.
might want to check my math, but I have Allie's final 3k at 9:04, which would have placed about 6th at nationals last year and would have ranked #11 on the season performance list for the 3k.

Mt. Marathon is not a full marathon: "Race day is always July 4. The Mount Marathon Race® application process takes place beginning January 1st each year and closes at midnight, Alaska time, on March 31st. The foot race is a climb and descent on Mount Marathon – a mile and a half up and a mile and a half down, complete with cliffs, scree fields, waterfalls, and a spectacular view.

Just watched Allie O's 15:21. Indeed, it was impressive. Most impressive is her running form, which just seems very efficient and ideal for the marathon. I know its way too early to predict, but it seems like Allie is a possible future marathon star.
How did you watch it? I don't have FLO PRO it won't let me watch it and tries to charge me
They've gotta be kidding themselves if they think I'll pay for that
Flotrack during the interview and the race keep saying she came in 3rd at NCAA's XC. Don't they know she came in 2nd... 5 secs behind Molly Seidel?

I watched it on Flo Pro. Its cheaper (and less time consuming) than traveling to Seattle to watch the meet - plus I got 2 kids who also use it a lot... So, maybe I'm scamming them by having 3 people use it for the price of one. I know a few local college runners who do the same thing (share cost of a subscription) in their "track shack."
I think there are plenty of prior message boards - debating the pros and cons of FloTracks subscription service. No need to re-argue pros and cons on this thread.
Again - Allie O is looking like a future marathoner to me - sort of a young Joanie Samuelson? Not sure if her time qualifies for OT trials in 5K since it is on oversized track? I think she will also qualify for 10K OT. Seidel and possibly 1 or 2 other NCAA girls should qualify for 5K and 10K OT as well.
Yes, she was 2nd at NCAA XCs. Maybe she peaked too early at Wisco when she set the course record while beating Seidel? Now I think Ihmels has to be a little concerned that she is peaking too soon again? Then again - as someone else posted - she played basketball in winter all through HS, so this is the first time anyone is seeing her with a full year of training.
Just saw the post-race video from Allie on Flo (its free!). Early in the interview she said this race was the result "of a lot of hard work" since XC season (which makes one think she might peak too soon), but then she said that they haven't really done any speed work to date. Allie closes by hoping that there are still faster times in front of her this year. Good interview.
I believe the race and interviews with Conley and Allie are free inside this link:

The first second is free.
My bad - just the interviews are free in that link.
pretty astonishing time for a freshman in January. She still looks like a child but mentally she and her coach have exactly the right attitude, get out there and race and go with your gut instinct, rather than having a time target and hitting splits independent of feeling. Learn to race and she'll need that considering that there are not a lot of NCAA runners that will be able to stay with her. A college record in the 10k is surely forthcoming, but if not this year she'll absolutely destroy the American junior 10000m record. The world junior records are out of sight, of course, 8:28 Budd, 14:30 Tirunesh Dibaba, 30:26, Linet Masai.
The collegiate records according to Trackandfieldnews.com are:
5000m 15:01i Simpson
10000m 31:18 Uhl
AJr records:
3000 8:57 St. Geme (1982)--but didn't Cain run 8:53 or better?
5000 15:20i Disanza
10000 32:51 Scherf
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
