Because you wouldn't expect Finland to be the best source for gossip about English athletes, so yes, a UK source would be more credible, especially since it would have been published subject to UK libel laws.

It was Vainio not Maaninka who tested positive, and it was in 1984 at the LA Olympics not prior to the World Champs in 83.

People like you peddling lies as facts are part of the problem and the perception of the sport given to the general public. It's no wonder people are switching off T & F.

Yeah, perhaps they should employ you to decide what should and shouldn't be bought to our attention, after all we don't want to, or have the capacity, to come to our own conclusions. Lamine Diack could give you some guidance on this or perhaps Big Brother Kim in The Peoples Democratic Republic.

There is a huge difference between investigative journalism asking questions, and making it clear that an article in a Finnish newspaper claimed what it did 33 years ago, which is now being re hashed by a disgruntled blogger, and stating as a fact that Coe was dropped from the UK team for failing a drug test carried out by British officials. It is stated as a fact on the homepage. This isn't helping the reputation of the sport or carrying out a service to the public at large, it is merely very poor journalism.

It should be pointed out that the initial source in 1983 was Iltalehti . It's described on Wikipedia is a "Tabloid newspaper." Anyone in FInland know what the reputation of the paper is/was? I see it has the 6th biggest circulation in the country.

Is tabloid being used generically or does it connotate something like the National Enquirer in the US?
