Believe me, it's a ploy.

Is that Rich Froning guy the cross fitter that had to retire at 27 because of low testosterone from all his drug use?
He looks like a dog.

but seriously i have continued to question why he'd be working out on an indoor track for marathon training. regardless of what he wore, i dont see him doing the trials at this point unfortunately.....unless of course those "3k workouts" the above poster mentioned were like 6-8 x 3k repeats!!!!
He is not prepared for a marathon, won't be running one, and it won't be pretty if he does.
Who is this "ploy" benefiting?
Crossfit, biotches!!!!

And this is why running isn't popular. The best distance runner in the country, and we have no idea if he's racing a marathon in 3 weeks--the Olympic trials, no less.
Yup!

Yup!
Exactly. The same goes for the coverage of Ryan Hall for the last four years.

There's no such thing as bad PR.
Look at us. We're all talking about him, and he's probably not even running a race.

Galan Rupp doesn't want anyone to see his SCRAWNY body. I approve the use of long sleeves to cover up where real athletes are RIPPED and SHREDDED.
Here's a video of Rich Froning outside in the snow, shirtless, about to go for a swim. The Fron doesn't need to wear a shirt, he is bulging in places that Galan doesn't even have.

Anyone else notice how bad these guys actually were at doing athletic things in this video? Terrible baseball swings, ridiculous running form, and god awful swimming technique. These big buffoons aren't actually athletes.
Also, no chance Galen runs the marathon trials.

Why no chance?
First, a local insider with ear to the ground said it is likely earlier in this thread (see nikeman's post).
Second, he's been spotted running asphalt for what seemed long runs when he previously limited his running on asphalt.
I wore tights for my run but I won't be doing the OT.

Except everyone with a brain knows he isn't.

He can't help himself, I think it's one of them whatchamacallits...bromances.
So true! USA Track and Field seems determined to continue its traditional order of priorities ... 1st the governing bodies, 2nd the apparel industry, 3rd the athletes, and a distant 4th, the audience. It's why only former T&F athletes pay attention. I'm one of those former athletes, and I find being a fan to be challenging to say the least.

I watched 2 minutes of that 5-minute video and I was so underwhelmed that I had to turn it off. His "shreddedness" is disappointingly paltry compared to his hype. He looked kind of fat in the gut -- I think he may have a lot of visceral fat. His ab-muscles were not terribly defined, and from what I could see he was hardly veinous. Pretty lame example of "shredded," in my opinion.
Rupp is not on the entry list yet.
When is the entry deadline? thank you in advance.
He will enter the day before or day of the deadline and then not show. It's his M.O.
If this was the 70's he might do it but the money in this sport is in the marathon. Why did Mo run Lindon? For $500,000 appearance fee. Anyone who passes that up is a fool.
The only way he does it is if Grandpa Knight wants him too.
That was half a million pounds, and it was first paid just for running half of it the year before...
One would expect to ind it on the USATF site.
I bet he runs.
And wins.
