"Run Gum" is criminal stupidity. Running or doing anything exertional with gum in your mouth is extremely dangerous.

Chew the gum before you run. Problem solved!
Or just drink coffee. Even black coffee tastes much better.

Nick should be careful. He is making many powerful enemies. I wouldn't be shocked if a couple of them saw to it that he's out of the sport for a couple of years.
Does Nick still have to cover his tats at USATFs?

I think age will take care of that shortly. That may be why he is now trying to develop his Run Gum business.
Mmmmmmmmm...
Rum Gummmmm....

GO NICK!

Under the current rules for the Olympic Trials, yes. The rule used to be enforced at major marathon, where Lauren Fleshman had to have temporary tattoos promoting her business removed:
http://asklaurenfleshman.com/2011/11/running-the-ny-marathon/The same thing happened to Symmonds:
http://www.sbnation.com/london-olympics-2012/2012/7/10/3141653/olympic-runner-nick-symmonds-wears-a-forbidden-tattooUSATF has relaxed some of those rules, but they still want to apply them at the Olympic Trials.
These are the actual rules:

What would happen if NS put a permanent Run Gum tattoo on his face, arms, legs, or etc? Can you be forced to cover up permanent ones?

I assume they would make him put tape over all the tattoos or disqualify him if he refused. I don't see why it would make any difference under the rules whether the tattoos are temporary or permanent.

A couple of months? Hardly. Maybe a couple weeks. Nick's been washed up for a while now.Not sure what 4th tier law school you failed out of.
Not sure what high school you dropped out of before working the night shift at the web PR firm.
Yes, a couple of weeks to draft the complaint, AFTER first performing lots of research, locating and speaking with potential witnesses, etc., etc.
Do you get paid time and a half (that would be $12.00/hour in your case) for working the night shift?
A top flight law firm who specialize in this area. yeah the complaint wouldn't take more than a couple of weeks to draft. Did you even read it...most of it was canned.
Does Nick Symmonds even run anymore, or has his life just evolved into 1 big PR stunt after another?
I would like to announce I'm filing a formal complaint with the FTC against RunGum for fraud, and false advertising in selling their crap...errr gum.
Nick has to be taught a lesson and I'm are the big wig at Nike will help finance my suit.
Nick should stop focusing his attention on playing victim and start focusing on his crappy "gum." Not sure how many of you have tasted it, but it's hands down the worst gum I've ever had, has no flavor right from the start and either dissolves into nothing or turns to stone within 10 seconds. Someone should sue Nick for peddling a horrible, horrible product.
The gum is a caffeine delivery vehicle, designed to get caffeine into your system by buccal mucosal absorption, faster than via the stomach, with no liquid sloshing around in the stomach during training or competition. It's best to be chewed before the exertion, allowing the caffeine to kick in and not have the gum interfere with ventilation during exercise. There are now three flavors available, everyone should be able to find a flavor that they like. The caffeine boost is also helpful for improving alertness while driving or pulling all-nighters studying.
Thank you Run Gum marketing department. Congrats on this stunt.

I am going to chew some Run Gum and stick it to that disgusting statue of Bowerman at Hayward track the next chance I get.
I'm a lawyer at a top flight law firm too! Go figure.
