I definitely wouldn't mind seeing some of Alan's running logs from 2004-2007 and 2010-11.

I'd say Hall was the most durable; he went pretty much through 2011 without any real injury problems (although once they started they never stopped). Going along with that, I would say that he came the closest to his ceiling
I wouldn't exactly consider DNF just about every race "durable"
All 3 had very good careers
All 3 became American record holders
All 3 became Olympians
They came up with the internet (the Justin Biebers of track). I'm sure that their HS careers was better as a result. They knew how each other were doing in real time. It surely gave them greater motivation to train hard and achieve.
I'm also sure that if you asked them, they would tell you that they got inspired by each other's results even as pros...
I guess that you can always have regrets, but none of them really should have regrets. They did amazing.

Asa ritz fan, I believe my three points to prove his toughness would be : 1. Ncaaxc 2003 when he had come off a year of injuries and had very minimal training and out kicked hall in FREEZing conditons. 2. Olympic trials 10k 2012: if needing a top 3 spot and running the standard wasn't tough enough, moments before the start a torrential down pour falls from the sky and ritz still goes out unfazed and he and rupp dictate the pace and accomplishes qualifiying. 3. And lastly, his AR in the 5k. Being the only non African ritz was dfl for first couple laps that went out in 60 and just hung on and grinded and worked his way up and broke a record, I honestly didn't think any true born American would break.
Yeah I don't think any of those races would qualify him as tough. Very talented yes, tough no.
1. Recall he lead very little of the race and let Hall do all the work
2. Again, Rupp does some front running to keep the pace honest
3. Ritz in the shape of his life, hardly what I would call a gut buster
As for races he's 100% not shown to be tough, how about EVERY MAJOR MARATHON HE HAS EVER RUN! Seriously that's the true measure and Ritz has shown to be weak at the distance. Instead of people saying he's weak in the marathon, people talk about fueling issues, not the proper training etc. If was so tough, he would have consistently run well at that distance. End of story.
