Believe me I have tried!
I just can't seem to find any!
We have this problem at our local Y too. My "favorite" day was when a staff member brought in a group of about 20 young kids, and deliberately set them loose running in the opposite direction of the direction I was running. (The direction posted for that day.) They were doing this as part of a "kid's triathalon," but there was no notice of the track being shut and no notice given to me that they would soon be coming onto the track. Talk about dangerous!
I've gotten close to getting in to screaming matches with people at my community's track. There are even signs posted saying to leave lane 1 open for runners. I'll be doing an interval workout and our of nowhere someone will be pushing a stroller, or walking the wrong way in the first lane. And it always appears like they think it is my fault. Or on sidewalks, to my experience walkers will almost never move even if I warn them from behind.
Anyone else have similar experiences?
I like to see women four abreast.
Yo smooth,
This is annoying so try slapping her fat bu*t next time you stroll by her and then say 'hey, nice as*'. If she kicks off then just say that this is how us runners do it.
Worse case scenario is she will like it and you'll have to give it to her hard smooth style.
I got into this stupid argument once at the Y over a treadmill. I signed up for my treadmill and but got the number wrong. I had about 5 or 10 minutes left and this jerkish bulky weight builder comes over and tells me to get off. Since there were plenty available I asked him if he wouldn't mind using another one or waiting a few minutes since I was almost done. He told me that he did and I should go use another one. That really pissed me off, so I told him he could have it when I was done. He said something which wasn't clear over my earbuds, so I started shouting above my earbuds at him; telling him off, challenging him, calling a tough guy and stuff like that. He left angrily but did not go get any staff member. It was kinda funny because he was wearing an eighties style yellow headband. The people around me were kinda shocked. I felt like jerk afterwards and regretted my behavior.
The idiot management at the Y always, always sides with complainers. I'm a spin instructor at one and after an idiot who came into my class 15 minutes late didn't have any idea how to set up a bike, and I politely advised that he come back ten minutes prior to a class start to get instructions on safely & properly setting up a bike, the a**hole complained. I get admonished and told that next time, I need to stop the class and show the clueless latecomer what to do and have everyone else just wait..... I only keep doing it because it's great cross training and I like the regulars. Next time YOU need to be the complainer. Seriously.
Look out everyone! We have a humble-bragging badass over here!
I tell my wife this all he time, but it's men and women. When I walk in a public place such as a mall, I'm constantly getting out of people's way. They do not and will not move an inch. I tell my wife, for one day I'd like to act like the general public and refuse to move. How many collisions and upset people would there be because I didn't move when they didn't either.
Oh heck yes. The other day these 2 fit looking people came up the stairs to the track, and then stood in Lane 1, the running lane, and chatted for about 5 minutes. They could have taken one step back and chatted on the stairway landing, but no. Even though on every lap I pointedly swerved out of their way. Finally I gave them "C'mon guys" shrug from about 50m away and they actually moved.Absolutely no idea what people are thinking at the track.

Why the heck are you running at the Y. This is where people gather as they believe their imaginary friend in the sky will tell them how to lead their life. Think for yourself, run for yourself and live your own dreams
A real man runs outside in the winter.
In the UK if someone makes an obstacle of themselves on the track you tell them to "fu@k off out of my lane when I'm coming past you farkin cnut".
They will just piss off home or stay in another lane.
Nobody complains like a wuss to the manager or whomever.
It's a running track with lanes, there's no defence for continually getting in the way of another person (particularly if they're running).
And when there's snow or even a flood you still run on the track.
And you do your warmup jog through the mud, in the dark with the squirrels.
