I could look them up, does anyone have them handy?

Paul Ereng UVA - 1:44.84 - 1989 Budapest
Patrick NDuwimana - Ariz - 1:45.33 - 2001 NCAA champs
Einars Tupuritis - Wichita St. - 1:45.80 - 1996 NCAA champs
Derrick Peterson - Mizzou - 1:45.88 - 1999 NCAA Champs (American Collegiate Record)
Donavan Brazier - TxAM - 1:45.93 - 2016
I just mentioned his name yesterday on this site as one of the reason's America's future in the distances is bright. He ran hs only races last year until, I think, trials for world juniors(?), when he was dq'd. And he even-split those races or even negative splitted. So, he had plenty in the tank. To break 1:46 indoors, solo, in January as a freshman is just incredible. Good luck to him! We often have guys break 1:45 outdoors with no further development from that point, but this is surely quite a different kind of case. What a talent.
In other men's action, Penn State's Brannon Kidder has broken the collegaite record for the 1000. At Penn State, he ran 2:18.26 to break Rich Peters' collegiate record of 2:18.55 and teammate Robby Creese's American collegiate record of 2:19.53 (Editor's note, we initialy typed this incorrectly as 2:21.89).
You almost have to feel sorry for Kidder (Editor's note: His mistakenly inititally typed Creese here). He goes from, "Wow I'm the collegiate record holder at 1k. I'm gonna win NCAAs in the 800" to "Coach, can I run the mile at NCAAs" simply due to Brazier's unreal run.

Rojo did you mean you feel sorry for Kidder? I think Creese is out of indoor eligibility (he has one more year of outdoor eligibility though).
Yes I meant Kidder. I've corrected the post.
I've also changed the title of the initial thread. Donavan Brazier is how you spell his name.

NCAA outdoors. Made an Olympic team. Won a few European races. Good career for sure.
But Brazier broke a 33-year old record by nearly 2-seconds.
"Brazier shattered the 1982 U.S. Junior indoor record of 1:47.84 set by Villanova's John Marshall in New York City."
http://www.12thman.com/news/2016/1/16/TRACK_0116164627.aspx?path=trackThe article also has his splits. "'Brazier's splits on each 200m lap included 25.20, 26.40 [51.60], 26.58 [1:18.18], 27.75 as he blistered the field."
No, I never thought Fisher had the most talent in MI last season,, Brazier is 6-5 with quick leg turnover. He is a 800 machine. I thought 1:45 outdoors not indoor so early. Hello, Olympic trials and Rio !
"bring this kid along slowly...
bring this kid along slowly..."
Yes, the appropriate response to a huge talent is to somehow stifle it.
And what the hell does this even mean? Don't quadruple him in conference meets? No shit.
The people here...
Marshall's 1:47.84 on Garden 11 lap to mile track vs. this absolute new age speedway?
This is not "bitter old timer" speak, it is hard to even compare the two marks.
Despite the gap in time it was really hard to even break 1:50 on old Garden boards.

Sorry to interrupt your football playoff viewing but I just got a call from a prominent HS coach who told me that he just got a call from a top collegiate coach telling him that Donovan Brazier had just run 1:45.9 indoors with no rabbit.es, it's true as shown by this tweet.
https://twitter.com/aggietrk/status/688483653597319169Brazier ran 1:45.93, nearly breaking the American collegiate record of 1:45.88.
The race was done on a regulation track at Texas A&M with no rabbits and he we believe he went out in 51.
The top coach who called our buddy said he thougth Brazier would run 1:42 this year. So sick.

Looking at the overall meet results I have to ask where A&M is getting all these great kids, male and female? I demand an NCAA investigation.

Sans footage from today's race, here is a vid from last spring. Note the wind and crappy track. He absolutely cruises a 1:48-low:

Looks very windy pointed against the backstretch. Beautiful run.
The track hardly looks "crappy." Is that what people call anything other than Mondo these days?
Also, what kind of outdoor 800 does two turns in lanes?

Look at him in this great indoor race:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8LDvotW4WaMWhat is the update on the other guys, Brian Bell and Terrell Jackson? Amazing.
Can't tell if it is standard urethane or black asphalt (which is crap)...? The two-turn stagger alley start is unusual, but it helps Brazier, because he doesn't like to go out too hard like the other kids and otherwise he would have to work up through all the pretenders on the first lap.In any case, he looks like at least a solid 1:47-mid kid who was running 1:48s solo in cold windy conditions on a weekly basis (state meet as well). Too bad about his DQ at Jr Trials but it seems to have made him only hungrier.

Huge congrats for this kid. Wish I could watch a video.

Made the Olympics in one of the most competitive periods ever for the U.S. 800.
Does that meet your approval?
You can see the finish here. He ran 1:43:93 according to the voiceover LOL

1:44.35 Y Borzakovskiy
1:44.81 A Kaki
1:45.05 M Aman
1:45.93 @DonavanBrazier
1:45.96 T Kitum
All of them won medals
Some more perspective: freshman Robby Andrews only ran 1:48.39 when he ran NCAA indoors (beating Wheating, an Olympian).

PS. The HS coach who called me today is the same one who half of LetsRun.com mocked last year when he stated that Grant Fisher wasn't even the most talented HSer in Michigan as shown here:

Not really if we are talking about saviors of the event, which people seem to think is the case here.

Well, everyone ahead of him on the world junior all-time list (all four of them) has an OG and/or WC medal. But sure, if 1:45 at 18 could mean nothing in your mind please feel free to proceed in that belief...preferably in a bet with me.
