Did you have some kind of point? Or are you just in the habit of spouting little meaningless blurbs?
Agreed that Walmart sucks (in the same way that KMart sucks -

But the notion that the company is evil is for simpletons.

Racist, too. No black executives there and yet home state Arkansas is 16% people of color and WalMart shoppers in the south make up 50%.

I understand it is horrible for the local businesses and I hate that, but with a free market people shop at the places that can offer lower prices. If people didn't shop at Wal-Mart they wouldn't be as popular.
Misguided 'trade' policies that lead to off-shoring among other problems are why Chinese items are cheaper. Our politicians are owned by lobbies, the biggest of all, AIPAC, controls most domestic policy, never mind foreign policy when they're mentioned (which is rare due to their ilk running the media in the US).
Snob appeal as well makes Wal-Mart a target. For example, if the crowd that runs AIPAC were able to take over Wal-Mart there would be no end to positive press coverage and treatment.
The US has been taken over by a hostile group of people that works as organized group among the atomized population of the US (they work in the same fashion in Europe as well). Look at their behavior to get the Immigration Act of 1965 passed (making their tribe is always counted as "refugees") and their support of illegal immigration into the US and the fake 'refugee' flood into Europe (it's an invasion, plain and simple). Wake up.
In a normal situation, Wal-Mart would be considered another big outlet store. We are living in an artificial situation. Keep it up, be uninformed, continue to self-hate while never asking yourself why. Vote for Hillary or Bernie, finish the war against your people. Cowards and sucks, all of you!
lol
People who singularly blame Walmart are misguided. Walmart is under severe pressure from the dozen or so national chains of dollar stores to keep prices low. Yet I feel that laws should be passed to force Walmart, dollar chains, fast food, etc. to pay a living wage based on locality with full benefits for full-time AND part-time workers. The key point is that significant downward adjustments will have to be made by corporations, shareholders, Police Unions, civil service unions, and medical insurance providers. It will be difficult and it will take time. But minimum wage workers in the United States will no longer accept being treated the same as serfs in Europe, Irish in Northern Ireland, Muslims in Palestine, Untouchable in India, ...
WalMart isn't "leeching" off the taxpayer—they are the taxpayer.
Think about it, minimum wage workers are being leeched off by Walmart, corporations in general, shareholders, Police Unions, civil service unions, medical insurance providers, and other stakeholders. There is a definite imbalance. Excessive profits, local sales taxes, and fess benefit many, but not minimum wage workers. As a result, minimum wage works clog emergency rooms, use food stamps, public housing, and welfare.
Have you ever heard anyone go on vacation to Europe and say "I bought these cute shoes at a big box retailer, fifty miles outside of Rome".
Low prices shouldn't be the only metric to quality of life.
Live your life in the same places you would go on vacation. If tourists don't visit your town you should question where you live.
They are closing 269 stores all over the US soon. That's good, right?

That's brilliant! So now tourists are the keepers of good taste in this world!
Thanks for the laughs.

Tourism is a litmus test for whether your city is an interesting place to live. When you go on vacation do you visit other Walmarts and eat at fast food restaurants by the mall? Of course you don't, so why do you choose the rest of your time in these places? People are frugalizing themselves to death.
Get out of your beige colored houses and venture beyond your cul-de-sac. There's an interesting world out there.

I agree. I don't understand why these ugly Walmart shoppers don't live in a nice place like Santa Barbara or similar.

Yeah, Canada works (for the Irving family).
You would be more convincing if you quoted the correct post.
Nice to see some thoughtful and intelligent explanations here as to why Walmart might not be a good thing for our society. I know its surrounded by a bunch of ignorant blabber, but I bet most of that is just trolling when it really comes down to it. I'd say most of the actual, serious responses are pretty good examples.
To those of you that argue Walmart can do what it wants: You're not wrong, but I hope that you accept it when someone stronger than you inevitably tries to take advantage of you and nobody is willing to do anything to stop it.
To those that buy their running gear at Walmart (and could afford to do otherwise): I hope you guys are happy you saved ten bucks when our sport has died because nobody who cares about its survival has any money or power or time to invest in it anymore.
It's not Walmart per se, it's the international market that governs prices, profits, and wages. Corporate, federal, state, and local municipalities have to increase the portion distributed to minimum wage workers, and decrease business taxes, state sales taxes, corporate profits, and executive wages.

Flint, Michigan is a tourist mecca this time of year. The High-De-Ho Inn downtown gets 4 stars and is cheap, too.

They pay their employees so poorly that the government has to pick up the rest (food stamps, health care, ect). The Waltons are 40% of the list of the top 10 richest people in the country. They could pay their employees better.
The majority of the Walmart employee's I have encountered are literally not employable at any other establishment on earth. As a result I feel like Walmart might not be picking up the entire tab but they are certainly helping out by giving them a job so they can use less government assistance than they would otherwise.
