I understand it is horrible for the local businesses and I hate that, but with a free market people shop at the places that can offer lower prices. If people didn't shop at Wal-Mart they wouldn't be as popular.

It's where poor people shop and I'm a conceited a$shole.
China sucks that's why!
They concentrate wealth into fewer hands.
They pay their employees so poorly that the government has to pick up the rest (food stamps, health care, ect). The Waltons are 40% of the list of the top 10 richest people in the country. They could pay their employees better.
If they paid their employees more, they probably wouldn't be as rich. Being more rich is much better than being less rich.

The libtards should love trump. He wants to put tariffs on china goods. That would raise all the prices at walmart and eventually they would have to close stores due to lower demand.
Because in many markets they have a consumer monopoly and often times receive tax breaks/ credits from the local municipality essentially for putting smaller businesses out of business. There is a reason there is anti-trust legislation, it is because monopolies are bad for the economy as a whole.
Monopsony power creates a market distortion. Walmart is such a large retailer that they have complete control over their suppliers. If they tell a company "figure out a way to sell a jar of peanut butter for $.50 cheaper or you're off of our shelves," the supplier really has no option other than to figure out a way to sell a cheaper product, which probably means decreasing the quality of their product. Then we all get crappier peanut butter since the company isn't likely to sell a different product at Walmart than they sell to other retailers. The company doesn't have the leverage to say "no, we care about quality and we can't sell a quality product at the price you're demanding" because they might lose 70% of their sales if they get dropped by Walmart.

I have also heard of sweatshops all over Asia but that doesn't make it right.

Correct answer. To which I shall add...
http://ei.marketwatch.com//Multimedia/2015/02/17/Photos/MG/MW-DF700_walmar_20150217124658_MG.jpg?uuid=0370a298-b6cd-11e4-97b5-0d659a334ccbWalmart forced hundreds of thousands of US manufacturing jobs overseas by making their suppliers cut costs to the bone to be able to sell to Walmart. Walmart actively encouraged if not demanded that their suppliers move production to China and other third world countries.
Walmart ruined rural American. In small town after small town, Walmart would by extremely cheap land on the outskirts of town to build a store. They would undercut every retailer in town until they went out of business. When the locally or regionally owned retailers went out of business, the restaurants, ice cream shops and other businesses in the downtown square would also fold up shop. All the commerce would end up in a few big strip malls on the edge of town dominated by Walmart and national franchises. People who used to own a drug store, restaurant or home goods store, making solid middle class wages would end up working for minimum wage at Walmart instead.
And then Walmart just doesn't give a sh t. Walmart employees make the folks at the DMV look like the wait staff at the Palm steak house. The stores are poorly stocked and dirty because Walmart keeps try to save every penny on cost even if it means the shopping experience is awful. All Walmart does is pull hard earned dollars out of communities for the benefit of a small group of weirdo billionaires in Arkansas.

Labor practices, in short. They drive out competitors and then offer little to no benefits to the workforce. Not like they can go work for the competition that no longer exists. But you're correct, if people really cared more about other humans' explotation and/or suffering they would actively choose to not shop at Wal-Mart. But, it appears people really care more about savings than the welfare of others. They're voting on the subject with their dollars, I suppose.
A lot of people have a bad opinion of WalMart because of the documentary:
Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXmnBbUjsPs
You had a nice thread on how a high minimum wage hurts small towns.
Walmart is an example of how small businesses in small towns shut down when they come in.
And they really lean on the employees to get the most out of them with the least pay and keep them under hours to avoid paying benefits.
Then they go on taxpayer subsidized welfare.
I am not totally against them and I understand business and free markets.
I just wanted to respond to your question as why many think Walmart is bad.
Go visit peopleofwalmart.com and you will see why Wal Mart is bad.
They make money.

I hate American commoners.

Many "sweatshops" are VERY right. They dramatically increase the quality of life of those employed. The fact that they are not up to American standards and may offend American sensibilities is irrelevant.
There are undoubtedly some that use coercion, dishonest practices and force. These are indeed bad shit.
//////////////////////////////////////////////////
But tell me precisely what this talk of sweatshops has to do with Walmart. Or would you consider the following a valid argument against the act of eating?
"In addition to hearing about eating, I have also heard of satanic cults who murder innocent babies but that doesn't make it right."
I look forward to seeing if you can put forth arguments that contain at least a hint of some rudimentary logic.

Because it was created with only white trash in mind.
And it is thriving better in the south. But, a little known secret for runners - that timex ironman watch that cost $79+ at the running store is only $25 at wal mart
