Wow! I was shocked to see this. I could have sworn he would be running for years to come. I grew up watching this guy run so many races. He was a year behind me in high school and I envy the race (Hall vs. Webb) in Arcadia.
When I heard about him having fatigue issues several months ago, I could relate. Even though I'm not at the level he is, I have been dealing with fatigue myself. I always though I could run into my 50's like a lot of other old runners I see. But after seeing him retire, I wonder if I should hang-up my shoes and focus more on my career. I've always loved running and being in shape. I gave up on races and times and just enjoy spending time on the trails. For me its just been about enjoying my runs and getting in a solid days work. I hope he still finds joy in running because its not always about the races. Its about just being out there and experiencing.
