Also Dana Carvey acts as presidential candidate Ross Perot frequently and has run 9:20 for 2miles.
No he didn't
George W. Bush
As already mentioned, Carter ran XC at Annapolis. I even heard he was captain of the team.
Not sure about Kennedy being the best golfer, with his bad back and all. Eisenhower holds the record for most rounds in office.
No, it was Clinton, when he was chasing bimbos.

Typical Letsrun crowd. It was definitely Bush. To even mention Carter is as big a joke as was his presidency.
It was a different era, but Teddy Roosevelt probably had potential if he had trained-

I read a biography of Teddy and it mentioned that he used to take foreign dignitaries out on runs through Rock Creek Park, which is funny to me since I used to live in DC and ran in Rock Creek all the time.
I doubt he was fast, but it is fun to think that he used to do that.
Carter ran XC for Navy when you had to do a sport as an extracurricular. She the fact that he did XC is kind of telling, to be honest (not much of an athlete).
Bush is clearly the best runner.
I am not sure where the Kennedy/Golf thing would come in... Dude couldn't even stand up straight without a brace.

Typical kneejerk reptard. When the message is 100% factual, attack the messenger. Every republican hates Jesus and hates America.
I'm sure the former football player Johnson could have run some impressive track times up to 400m.
Kim Jong-Un...
He is the best at everything.

JFK is pretty widely recognized as the best golfer in presidential history, but who was the best RUNNER?
I feel like this may be an obvious question that "every runner should know", but I don't... and I would rather ask LR than Google, because, frankly, Google doesn't have much of a personality...
Gerald Ford was probably the best all-around athlete who was president- football player at University of Michigan:

I know this sounds really nancy of me, but it seems really dangerous to sit around the sides of that elevator well like that. I mean, that is a broken leg waiting to happen.
It is weird to see Ford in such good shape.
Whenever I look at pictures from the 1950s, all the kids are so in-shape. I know it was a different time and era, but go walk through a high school or college campus right now. 60% of the people are fattys.
For what it's worth, George HW Bush led Yale to two College World Series. Also, he played soccer one year at Yale. He probably had a lot more potential at long distance running than his son. Barbara's genes probably slowed down W.
I remember hearing that GW Bush was a very good runner. I also remember hearing that Jimmy Carter was an enthusiastic runner, but not a very good one.
Here's an article about GW Bush from Runner's World, from 2002:
http://www.runnersworld.com/runners-stories/running-with-president-george-w-bush
There are references to Carter running 10:17 or 10:22 for ~2 miles at Navy, and winning a collegiate XC race.
I'd rank any of those efforts above a 21 range 5k, regardless of the political party involved.
Do we really need another thread on this? The answer has always been Jimmy Carter and that won't change just because some newbie starts a new thread on an old topic.
We have hours and hours of tape on this, thanks to the Washington Nationals. Lincoln leads the series handily (253), with Taft (22) and Teddy (44) being the slowest.
