OP you are not alone. I taught 12 years in a couple different private schools and I just quit. In private schools, you do not have students, you have customers. Customers that believe since they pay X amount in tuition, they have a right to every minute of your day. I have a phd in history and thought it would be more rewarding to teach at the prep level...I also am done with that illusion. I served with many who went the M.Ed route...what a joke. I can only speak for history, but what is being taught as history in most public (and private) should not qualify as history. A 28 credit hour masters where a chunk of those credits are given to you for like experience and the other hours where you learn to play with Popsicle sticks as call that lesson planning cannot stand up to a 60 credit hour MA in history. M.Ed degrees are the equivalent of ITT tech schools and should be outlawed.
