Wow, so many thoughts and reactions to that incredible video. Where to start?
1) Thanks to the OP! You made my morning.
2) As a couple posters have already observed, Al Michaels and Marty Liquori were excellent. And Al isn't even a track guy. They were indeed far better than anything any of us have seen (or should I say, suffered through) in the last two plus decades.
3) Running aside, Joe Falcon was/is one of the most solid guys to ever run track. Those two interviews were awesome. What an honest, down-to-earth, humble, all-around good guy.
4) Can you imagine anyone of his caliber giving a pre-race interview today? In which he basically lays out his (initial) strategy for the race? And does it when they're about to step on the track? He actually cared about the promotion of the sport in the US.
5) The OP is absolutely correct. PRs are irrelevant. (Why do so few posters on these boards understand that?) Given Joe's talent, attitude, character, work ethic, and intelligence, he would damn near be a lock to make the US team this year in at least two events.
