Of course he recanted his statements, he is protecting his career. If you make a living providing PEDs to athletes, no one is going to work with you if you run your mouth off the way that guy did.
Perhaps he did embellish, he is a salesman after all, but his excuse of "testing" Collins is complete bs. What was he trying to test? He sold the drugs to Collins anyway, so I take it Collins passed whatever "test" Sly was trying to throw his way.
Furthermore, if you combine what Sly said with the fact that a current MLB player met with him on camera, to take D2, you can see that there is atleast some credibility to the statements he made. Combine that with the other comments from the other doctors on the show, and a pretty damning picture of professional sports as a whole is created.
I wouldn't say this is surprising at all, but it is good to see that this is getting some publicity. Hopefully people read between the lines here. The general public needs to wake up at some point.
