my GPS is pretty damn accurate on a track...comes out to about .99 of a mile every four laps, which i think is dead on.

It would be hard to twist his arm to do this, but I'd be excited to see what someone like Max King could do for 100-miles on a track/flat road. Given his 2:14 marathon speed and experience at trail -100 milers as well as being 100km road champ, I'd be willing to bet he could lay down a pretty strong pace for 11 or so hours...on a flat runnable surface.
Yeah, no doubt the 11:28 WR is weak. I believe that Calvin Woodard split 50 miles in sub-5 hours when he ran 11:38. If the splits are so uneven (and he was really close to his absolute potential in the 50 there), the max result is far from optimal. Zach's a great runner, but if he's doing 11:38 on 2:20s marathon ability, a top tier marathoner could go faster. I think Max could go sub-11, and someone super efficient and fast like Tsegaye Kebede could go pretty damn close to 10 flat. Why don't you go for it? I bet you could break the 11:28 pretty easily.
No money. That keeps the mercenaries away.
Very Impressive! Congratulations!
If you go at a walking pace it will be pretty accurate. Blasting ~105 second laps is different.
Go over to Irunfar and they have Zach's race report up.

All due respect, but you hardly need a calculator to check that. 100 miles x 7 minutes = 700 minutes = 11:40. That leaves 55 seconds to account for. Divide by 100 and you get 0.55. So, 7:00.55 pace.
No respect is due, actually.
Here is the strava candy - all miles under 7 minute pace until mile 76. Mile 61 was 6 flat...Average pace was 6:41 as it was 104.7 miles due to running in second lane, going around people, etc.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
I think Letesenbet Gidey might be trying to break 14 this Saturday
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
