Will this motivate Mo ?
Will this motivate Mo ?
No, because Mo has been taught to run one way to win; slow pace, draft of fellow runners--usually one paid to allow drafting--, and then hardcore sprint. Fast pace, running in front is the type of running Mo can't do; how Bekele set the 10k WR.
Wow, he's not wearing NIKE. Very interesting..
Also, why do so many great Ethiopian runners struggle with Achilles injuries? Geb, Bekele, Abera, many others have had to have multiple Achilles surgeries? Is it too much track work?
More interesting is the question; how do Salazar's runners avoid injury under massive training loads?
I think because Salazar's group heavily emphasizes recovery via methods like water running and Alter-G treadmills to alleviate body weight and reduce the stress on the joints and tendons.
My experience with Ethiopian runners is that they do a lot of max sprints, 50-60m sprints, in spikes, almost daily on the track. Perhaps that, combined with the high volume and intensity, contributes to a rapid decay of the tendons.
Rupp has been injured in the past. He had a chronic quad issue that took quite some time to resolve itself (remember his strap from his Oregon days?). Mary Cain lost half a season to injury. So did Moser.
I think it's your perspective, or maybe they are injured at "better" times and recover in order to peak for championships, and we don't notice as much. Heck, Jordan Hasay has been injured for the past couple of months. Perhaps you are not paying attention.
Cain lost half a season to being out of shape.
Injuries at Oregon would not be under Salazar's full program; or are you saying Salazar was Rupp's official coach while in college; a no-no under NCAA rules.
Salazar's core of top runners are Farah, Rupp, Centro, and Rowbury. The rest are there to provide support to the core. Everyone is most certainly not treated the same by Salazar.
Mo doesn't have the mentality to go after records his records.
I don't see how he could flip that switch at this point in his career.

This is Letsrun. Surely you don´t expect people to care about silly little things like facts.
Wow. You are not understanding the sport.
Yes, an NCAA Division I college athlete can have a coach other than the institution's coach. Case in point, Ryen Frazier is not coached by NC State, rather her own personal coach. There are so many more examples in Sprints, Throws, and Jumps (Multi). I used to get around it as listing my coach as "Volunteer Coach."
All those athletes listed have been injured. And Hasay is a top flight NOP member, on par with Centro and Rowbury. You are making excuses.

So, you agree with COL that Salazar was Rupp's real coach while in college; a fact as you state? If actually true then Rupp should be forced to give up his NCAA championships.
I have an excellent understanding of the sport. You are wearing NOP Goggle FIlters.
Hasay is not a top flight NOP member. Do you understand why? Do you understand Salazar slow-steady progress program at all? You most certainly do not.
You are making up rules that don't exist. You can have a personal coach outside of your team coach at NCAA Division I level.
I think AlSal's athletes get injured just as often as anyone else. The difference is that during a workout if something doesn't feel right or if they wake up having slept in the wrong position, they go into crisis mode. This has led to the Rupp certified classification system.
Then they immediately assume it could be a career ending injury and start rehabing and/or filming to make sure the issue doesn't change the athlete's gait. They also might spend 22 hours a day suspended by a cushion of air. Whereas 30+ years ago, if I thought I was injured, the next day, I would just keep warming up until it went away or until it became an obvious problem. I mean I was going to have to go to work and use my leg all day no matter what.

Your primary coach is your college coach. Now you are saying that Salazar has always been Rupp's personal coach and that he can take full credit for NCAA championships, not Oregon or Oregon coaches who had nothing to do with Rupp while he was "their" athlete. Talk about making up things that don't exist; that is you.

His mentality is not the issue.
He is not fast enough. It isn't really close.
