He's addicted to competition, it's tragic
Yeah can't believe someone's trying to better themselves these days... We should all work 9 to 5 jobs like you and just rot in our mediocrity
Better themselves lol

I hope you're more disappointed in Lance's doping history. Or still clinging to your LIVESTRONG t-shirt?
Actually I hate Armstrong, and always thought he was doping since the first win. I had many arguments with non-cyclist friends over the years that he was a cheat.

Although I don't think Lance running in this particular trail race is a big deal.
This.
Gray's comments only bring attention to what was really a non-event. Old, slow washed up (former doper) cyclist getting in a workout on a fun run.
You gotta get on outta here with that
Alley-cat-coat wearin'
Hush-puppy-shoe-wearing'
Crumb cake I saw you with
Cause you dismissed
That's right, silly rabbit
Tricks are made for kids, don't you know that?
You without me: like cornflake without the milk
It's my world--you just a squirrel, tryin' to get a nut

Why are people making such a big deal about letting him race this? Yeah he doped in cycling, but he already paid for that...
Speaking as someone who trains and races almost exclusively on trails, I think it's ridiculous that anyone is complaining about this. Armstrong wasn't looking for publicity or awards, he was just out there running. The people who are whining about his participation just come off as sniveling little pains in the arse. They need to sack up and shut up.

You go ahead and become friends with Lance, maybe go into business with him. Let us know how that works out for ya.

Holy non-sequitur Batman, who has mentioned becoming friends with him or going into business with him?
But running an unsanctioned trail race is not a big deal. And if Gray and Sage hadn't said anything, no one would have cared or spent more than 5 seconds thinking about it.

My point is that Armstrong detroyed the lives of a lot of his friends, teammates, and business partners. As a side note he made all the people who defended him look like asses. He is an unrepentant world class POS. Any decent person would be wise to stay away from him. I wouldn't let that guy play in a beer league softball tournament.

Everyone is aware of Armstrong's tremendous short-comings as a human being, but that is completely irrelevant to this situation. He is not a paid invitee to these types of races and reportedly is not seeking any public glory, so completely banning him from an event like this serves absolutely no purpose other than to appease self-righteous haters. (And my use of the term "hater" should not be inferred as any sort of defense of Armstrong's transgressions...past or present.)
Anyone making an issue of this simply looks like an immature pansy or, even worse, jealous of the fact that Armstrong is probably exceeds them in terms of trail racing talent.

Totally agree.

Team sports, definitely. But if he wants to run a trail race, who am I to keep him off the trails. It's a solo sport. He can run anywhere he wants (as long as the races are unsanctioned and he doesn't collect any prizes, monetary or otherwise).
He was 15 minutes off the course record, that's almost a minute a mile. I think this got more press because it was a weak field and he "won". My 2 cents at least.
Armstrong did more to tarnish the reputation of all athletics than anyone else. After Lance, we found out that we could believe in no one. That's his legacy.
Lance Armstrong is bad news, and should not be welcomed into the running community at any level. We got enough problems without bringing in the Machiavellian master of deceit and destruction.

+1
I will say though Joe Gray is not jealous of Armstrong's trail racing talent, but I feel strongly that he made him self look bad (like a "hater") by making public comments about him participating in this local race.
Amen.

Right, it probably helped him run faster.
Ban competition!!!!
Ban carrot juice, cherries, apples, and green veggies!
Good for Lance Armstrong for running so well and winning the race.
I'm impressed.
Shame on those who use drugs to try and ban their competitors, the same that Radcliffe did, and that similar losers do including certain journalists.
Those are people who are tearing down athletics, and who should have lifetime bans from competing.
Let's not forget that he did this in a sport long known for doping before he joined it. My guess is over 80% of his competitors were on something too.
To Paraphrase Chinatown the movie, "It's Cycling." It was anyway.
Lance was on Joe Rogan last week.
He discusses his running at 1:36:53

No, that's not true at all. The person who did that was Radcliffe, along with her
best journalist friends, the Brojos, who continue doing the same thing to this day.
