how often does a 30 year old athletic dude get LOW T???

My T always feels massively low after I engage in an extended wrestling match with the purple-headed yogurt thrower. Normally, any subsequent athletic endeavor is truncated and apathetic,

My T is normally chill the next day.

I take it at bedtime or before a high intensity workout. Let me add that I think DHEA works better with high intensity workouts in your training. It can be track intervals, hill reps, or weights. Subjectively, I would guess that about 75% of the testosterone boost comes from high intensity workouts and diet with only 25% from the DHEA. I have no data to back this up... just a subjective feeling.

DHEA has been used in body building circles for at least a couple of decades. That's how I found out about it initially. Body builders are like human lab rats when it comes to performance enhancing drugs. They try everything. If there were any serious side effects, we would probably have heard about it from body builders by now.

It's extremely interesting that drug companies have lobbied the FDA to ban DHEA because it works and its cheap.

If your T isn't below 300 you aren't running as much as you could. Sub-200 means you've found your sweet spot and shouldn't increase volume any further.

Various barbell lifts and squats: 5 sets of 5 reps with the last set being the max I can do for 5 reps.

Various lifts: 4 sets of weights I can lift about 15 times... each set to exhaustion

Tabata: 8 sets of squats doing as many squats as possible in 20 seconds followed by 10 seconds rest before next set.

Hill reps: Over time, build up to 8-10 reps of 30 seconds up a steep hill. Recovery is walk down or about 90-120 seconds.

If someone walks over after a set and asks, "Are you okay?" Then you have the intensity about right. Risk of injury doing this is obviously high, so you have to build up to it just like with running.

I've found high rep and lifting to failure significantly compromises my running/biking workings, 5 sets of 5 strength lifting did not really degrade my workouts, in fact seemed to help some (steep hills, short sprints). Even 7-10 sets of 3 reps near max was fine for biking, good to rotate that in 1-2X/month to blast thru plateaus.

Of course if your goal is mostly boosting T/HGH you would only want to run small amounts just to keep lean, in which case you can go crazy with reps to failure which is best for size increases, though some of that size gain is non-functional (just allowing more creatine/water into muscle which plumps them up a bit more)
