Does anyone have any info on what he is up to training wise or if he had any issues going into this race?

182?
182 IQ?
182 cholesterol?
182 lbs?
182 isn't bad for a retired triathlete
Awesomely deep and strong field for that race. There are plenty of well-known names buried pretty deep in the standings for that race.
Did he look relaxed?

He beat Symmonds, though.
And, yes - to answer the most important question - he looked relaxed.
WEBB IS not BACK BABY!!!!!!
Not surprising, as with almost all 1500m runners he was never an XC standout to begin with.

11th in the NCAA XC meet as a freshman is generally considered pretty good.
Looking at the highlights of the race especially towards the end he didn't look very good, quite tight coming across the line tbh.
He's out there competing and having fun, running with a club, and doesn't have to worry about all of his races being scrutinized by letsrun trolls.
Well, 2 out of 3 is pretty good at least. Someday, all of us won't be as good nor as competitive as we are now.

27:34 - somewhere in the top 20(?) Americans all-time. Dude could run.
Is he replacing Tom Delonge? I thought that was Matt Skiba.

To be honest...
Most people on LRC aren't as good at their best as Webb is now.

He broke some bones in a bike crash this summer at the end of a triathlon so there's that
He was out around 15:10 ish thru 5k then lost his shoe, so came back in the high 17 min range. I assume he would have run 30:40 or so based on the guys he was around at 5k
ha, yes. go blink!

Agreed.
This is the problem with getting older as a runner. Guys don't all of the sudden lose their desire to lace up and toe the line, so you'll see an Alan Webb type show up in the results of races from time to time. But people will always hold runners to the standards of their prime, which obviously is a very short window.
I think it's always cool when guys who have tasted the very top continue to compete as they get older and inevitably slower. It shows they love what they do and that they're not restricted by their egos.

Yeah, dude could run but couldn't run clean.

Did he really lose his shoe?
