Did it occur to you to check out Bat Out of Hell (Original)? Hopefully, you did and things got a bit more clear. That album is great top to bottom. I would say it's underrated, but it has ranked pretty high in album sales, although I'm not sure where it ranks right now. At one point, it was top 5, I believe. I get the feeling, that at least live, you had to have seen him in the 70s to appreciate the spectacle. I saw him in the 80s on some non-descript tour and then again on the Bat out of Hell II tour and it was a completely different experience. Even though in both tours he played his songs from the first Bat album, you got a sense of the true Meat Loaf on the the latter tour. I can only imagine what it was like in the 70s.
