Was there a couple weeks. Was lucky & it hardly even rained. Was downtown a lot, visited neighborhoods, etc.. EVERYWHERE I read & heard said only great things about Portland.
Now a huge strike against me is, I did not get to the running/cycling trails- unforgivable on this forum. But what I saw & experienced:
-Much of the area's dungy-like. Houses, buildings everywhere look like they're falling down, needing paint jobs. Cracked sidewalks.
-Downtown = (Yuppies)^2. Everyone has a coffee & backpack. This is not a bad thing necessarily. But downtown is like a post-college campus.
-Roses & greenery?? A couple designated sites/attractions for roses doesn't make the city a haven for roses.
-The highlight was visiting nearby city Tiger. Nice neighborhoods & scenery.
Even though I missed the running trails- sorry- it doesn't make up for the rest.
