That was aimed mostly at Wayzata. They are like the kings of the cake-eaters. Stillwater, Hopkins, and Edina don't seem to have the same problem.

Lake Conference just added 2 teams - STMA and Buffalo.
Minnetonka boys went from last place last year to second place this year.
Eden Prairie boys went from last place 2 years ago to dominating this year (scoring less than half the points the rest of the teams scored!!)
Tradition and culture play as much if a role in Wayzata’s success as anything. They’ve been dominate in the state since the very early 90s. Wayzata was still a pretty small district just starting to emerge from being a small rural town.
In 2015 The Lake Conference had one of the best Conference’s average teams in the country (Wayzata, finishing 3rd out of 5), one of the best Conference’s last-place finishing teams in the country (Eden Prairie, finishing 5th out of 5), and one of the best Conference’s 2nd place finishing teams in the country (Edina, finishing 2nd out of 5).
I remember in 2018 there’s been some weeks when all 5 of the conference boys teams were ranked in the MN Top 12 in coach’s polls.
Milesplit recently released a list of the top 500 times from Mn in the past decade. Here’s the top 50.

If Minnesota were a country it would probably be top 5 in the world for men's distance running. The only countries that would beat it for sure are Ethiopia and Kenya, after that you have maybe rest of USA, Morocco, or Eritrea.
Minnesota is by far the most represented state in men's distance running in the country, it's ridiculous, especially when you factor in that it's below freezing with ice on the streets for half the year.
Just recently, there are two Olympic finalists in Rio with Hassan Mead in the 5000m and Ben Blankenship in the 1500m.
Numerous qualifiers for the 2020 Olympic Marathon Trials. A few random standouts, not even close to comprehensive:
Garret Heath, 3:53 miler defeated both Manzano and Farah and medalist at national and global championships. His brother, Elliot Heath, 7th at Trials 5000m.
Harun Abda, 1:45 guy, finalist at USA Nationals 800m.
Obsa Ali, won NCAA steeple last year.
Joel Reichow, NCAAXC All-American.
Joe Klecker, 2nd at NCAAXC and frequent NCAA medalist.
Lots of really fast guys I'm omitting here, someone should make a comprehensive list and compare to other states. There are community 5K races with dozens of guys under 16 or even 15 minutes, with very few HS or college runners competing, just locals who are in that shape year-round.

They're in the same section as well, which was won by Hopkins with the runner up being Minneapolis Washburn. Edina and Wayzata didn't even make it to state as teams, but you'll see runners from both teams very high up in the results.
Robbinsdale Armstrong went from 7th in the section 6AA last year to winning the section this year after not being ranked at all this year
Since you included 800m, GBR would give MN a run. Poster did not state UGA. MOZ could find some guys if MOZ had to. RSA could also find some runners.
Wayzata has a new breakout-star girl #1: Abbey Nechanicky. She's just a sophomore, but among the Lake Conference girls she has been virtually unbeatable this year:
https://www.athletic.net/CrossCountry/Athlete.aspx?AID=14044784
Her last three runs were speed-rated at 146, 148, and 150 (in order).
She plays point guard during the basketball season, and started running in 8th grade to stay in shape.
Nechanicky winning the MN Section 6AA race (speed rating = 150):

If Iowa was a country, it could pull down a few medals in 1500, 5k. 10k with Schweizer and Houlihan.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.

Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
