How do we know Scott Weiland didn't die because RT was folding?

Being run by idiot twins with zero work experience is a bad business model.
Just the name "Running Times" was elitist and catered to the 1% who had the unchecked privilege to run a 5K marathon under 22 minutes.

Good point.

I wouldn't doubt it. This place ought to be on someone's watch list, that's for sure.
I absolutely believe it. That and when they were bought by Rodale (owners of RW).
As I got more serious about my training I progressed from RW to Running Times for more relevant running articles. Then I found LR and gave up both of them.

Maybe that means there's a void and someone will fill it?
What a great coincidence. LetsRun - The Mag - will be launching in 2016. We'll feature a profile piece like the one you see today on the homepage plus a few print only Q&As and a column or two on training - one by JK.

I'm really bummed about this. RT does a great job with the physiology, training, and injury articles. I also really enjoy the features on the top masters runners. It's great to see the variety of ways masters runners train and are still able to achieve some great times.
Keep this in mind with your print addition.
darn I use to rub one out to those
with all due respect, content has to be given away for free or almost nobody will read it. Nobody will pay because their money has already been spent on iPhones, 2 year service agreements, iPads, GPS watches, Netflix, tattoos, and such in order to be socially relavant to their friends and business associates.
bottom line: there is no money left.

yeah I really like that too. Some old guys were doing traditional work like younger guys, some were doing just a few day but very intense, others were lots of slow miles but fast racing..
I'll miss RT.

Will you be posing? I'll buy that issue.
I'm going to miss Running Times. When they cut the number of issues each year, the writing was on the wall.
The demise of Running Times is not just about print media, but the shift in the running world in general. Now more than ever, the dollars in the sport come from appealing to the mass participants and first-timers. Look at the cottage industry that has developed around novelty runs. It makes financial sense that you'd want to appeal to a demographic that has money and tangentially participates in the sport by signing up for a few races a year while training at a bare minimum.
Running Times didn't cater to that crowd. The people who read RT weren't going out to buy new fuel belts, designer workout gear or a new pair of running shoes at full price because they look good. Most of us buy shoes on the cheap from web retailers. And we come to places like LRC or have a group of serious running friends to rely on for advice if we ever need it.

Seriously you should consider doing an digital magazine. I would cough up a subscription. Do it bi-monthly. Have an elite profile, a work out or two, race results, Brojo's runner/racing rant. Keep it to less then 20.00 for 6 issues. You might have a winner.
With the web there are so many other resources. This isn't a big thing.
What happens to my 3 year subscription?

I'm sure they'll gladly replace it with RW. You can learn about Kale The New Super Food! or How to Deal with Summer/Winter Running.
Or how to run your first 5K.
Tracksmith publishes a quarterly called 'Meter'. A fantastic read, great articles.
this so so sad. I get both RT and M&B. Now both are gone. Sure I get tons of race results and current stuff online, but I really liked the longer stories and in depth pieces from both of these pubs. I have a subscription to RW b/c it came almost free with a RT renewal, but ugh, I barely read it. Sometimes they'll have a pretty interesting feature story, but about 70% of it is skippable. Sad day for the running print media/
