Right, so after running 10.9 in basketball shorts he suddenly got access to top notch performance enhancing drugs which presumably he picked up from his local pharmacy when they were on special offer, just to give them a go.
This obviously happens all the time.

So this guy, who was almost unknown a year ago, is now one of the highest-paid track athletes in history. Seems like a guy who can handle it, but...just wow!
Doubtful, I would think. Without having seen his contract, you can be certain that the maximum figure of $30M assumes that he earns every bonus and rollover available for the duration of the contract, which would meaning winning every race, every gold medal available to him and breaking the 100m and 200m world records in each contract year.
Not doubtful. Who, other than Usain, has made even $10 mill off track salary/bonuses?

Allyson Felix.

If this is even remotely true, the first thing he should do is buy a plane ticket to Jamaica and thank Bolt in person for making him a rich man.

As a Canadian with realistic potential he will be a Puma Olympian.
As an American sprinter he stands a good chance of being a Puma spectator at the OGs
He was third at the World Championships last year.
Pretty sure he would have made the US team.
And he was only 20.
Doubtful. Even Bolt only got $10 mill and Allyson was before him I'm pretty sure. Hard to say, after bonuses, etc..

A quick hoopla draws attention. Liberals love this strategy. Does anyone actually believe that the women world cup final was the most watch event in history? Really? Did anyone here tune in...?
Uh, yeah, actually, I did, it was exciting AF!
An Olympic year is always the best year for track Athletes to get contracts, great he has a huge contract, still many high quality athletes in Track and Field are struggling Gofundme has helped a little, but the most I have seen a Track athlete get through Gofundme is 11k, hopefully that picks up.
I think the Government should help the struggling athletes who are not like A.Felix, Bolt, Degrasse etc. Maybe if the Government gave the top 100 American marks in each event a 15 year contract for lets say 50k a year so they could have money for shelter, food, some entertainment (Movie, go to a game occasionally), they would not have enough to live it up, but enough to live reasonably without having to work and be able to train well and get adequate rest, that would be good, maybe have a rule that if you have over 1 million dollars from lets say a shoe contract, or coming from wealth they would not need the 50k for 15 year money no need to give it to people that don't need it.
The Government will have a lot of extra money as both Democrats and Republicans want to lower the number of people in jail dramatically, (end mass incarceration as an inmate cost 30-50k or more a year) also due to lower crime expected from releasing so many non violent criminals, the police won't have to work nearly as many overtime hours meaning more money for the Government to spend on struggling athletes, the benefit would likely be more medals at Olympics and World Championships which increases Patriotism/pride in country.
I also think the Gofundme will catch on, but now while people know of Gofundme, there is not good advertising to look up where to sponsor athletes by sport and who, most athletes seem to get most of their donations in the first month or so and then it stops, hopefully this will change so it will be a reliable source of living income.
I am not worried about the Bolts and Degrasse's of the sport they are doing fine, but there are MANY athletes that need financial help to be on a level playing field as far as being able to train, eat good nutrition, get plenty of rest etc.
The catch is Tony Sharpe has to move to L.A. since Puma wants DeGrasse to promote Puma in L.A. (not Canada).
This is good news for other athletes and the sport at large.
Secrecy when it comes to these kind of deals is an outdated practice that only hurts the athletes. When athletes in other sports sign big contracts the news gets out and in addition to publicity for the sport athletes get bargaining power with sponsors.
The thing is that track and filed athletes largely do not sign large contracts. 12 of the 18 USA medals in Beijing were won in sprints and hurdles, and that's where the real money goes. With maybe the exception of Christian Taylor and Ashton Eaton, the rest aren't making much of anything, and frankly most aren't worth much of anything. Most of the athletes and their sponsors might not want to admit how little the rest are making, which is very different from the NBA and NFL. I think people generally know what Bolt, Felix, and now de Grasse are making, but by TFAA data, a large number of "professional track and field athletes" are making less than $15,000 a year.
TFAA is a communist club run by Ivy League liberal Adam Nelson.
