Serious question: how do you get out the door so quick? I get up at 4:30 but need 45mins to drink coffee and well sh*t twice. I would much rather be out the door in 15 mins if I could
It didn't happen overnight. I've been getting up early for a long time, but like you, it used to take me a while to get out the door. But when my oldest was set to enter high school, I realized I'd need to maximize my time in the morning because high school starts the earliest. I made the decision a long time ago to commit to essentially only running in the mornings to spend time with my family in the evenings, so I was driven to develop a routine that allows me to make the most of my time in the morning. That included holding back on my first cup of coffee until after my run. And that was a brutal transition that for the first few months included some close calls where I almost crapped myself. Now I need to use the first 10 minutes or so of my run to wake up. But I'm pretty comfortable with the routine at this point. I feel old as hell on some runs because I'm just a zombie. It's not perfect and there are days each week where I feel like total crud, but it works for me. If I had more time in the morning, I'd do things differently, but this is what I'm working with right now.
