even number distances there is an equivalent even number clocking for double that distance
can expand on this to :
"any doubling distances for any even number clocking there is an equivalent even number clocking for double that distance "
most interest here : 1/2 M & M
now, for 1/2M, the wr is 58'23, so not far off 58
using 58, the possibilities for equivalent for double distance, M, are
120
122
124
obviously, 120 is too fast as that is nearly 3'00 faster than wr & 58 is not much quicker than 58'23
124 is too slow as plenty runs at 124 or better
therefore 122 is only candidate ->
58'00 = 2"02'00
let's see if it's credible :
from above :
58'23 = 2"02'46
pretty spot on as M wr is 2"02'57
so, the 1/2M wr is slightly better than M wr, which is no surprise as quality 1/2M are run lot more often than quality M
for some others :
58'30 = 2"03'00
59'00 = 2"04'00
59'30 = 2"05'00
60'00 = 2"06'00
on women's side, florence has 1/2M wr at 65'07 & we obviously know paula's 2"15'25
from above :
65'07 = 2"16'14
paula's wr is quite a lot stronger than 1/2M, the 1/2M woud need to be ~ 64'42 to be on a par
it does indicate however that flo & mary shoud be capable of 2"16 if they ever run their "perfect" M...
