Serious question. At a cocktail event for my company where we have to get a beer/cocktail and mingle. I want to go for a 10mile run later from the hotel but I had an IPA and feel a little tipsy. I'm thinking maybe in 3-4 hours I'll be good to go for an easy 10 miles from the hotel, or will I need more time? What do you think?
How long does it take for a beer to wear off so you can go for an easy run and not have it affect you?

Of course you didn't notice the air valve. How convenient.

One drink should not be an issue at all. I mean for just a run. I wouldn't do it before or workout or anything.
For months I would drink a glass or two of wine with dinner and be out the door running within one or two hours. The food digesting was more of an issue. It's not a great idea, but it was my routine. -
0 minutes... dude, it's an easy run.

Just go for a drive until you sober up.

I've eaten a meal w/few brewskis and run out the door w/in a few minutes & run up a hilly 1.5 mile one way & back down to catch the sunset...💅ðŸ½

Hahahaha.
Funny to see this tonight b/c at work this afternoon a co-worker closed a big deal and went to the beer store and bought everyone pints of St. Peter's Taddy Porter (he liked the pint bottles that look like old medicine bottles).
I drank the pint to celebrate and then shut down my computer, changed clothes and knocked out 7 miles.
I'd lying if I said I didn't think about my run while I was drinking, but it was fine. Buzz was immediately gone after maybe 5 minutes and my run felt fine. -
I'm a lightweight female and I was going to say no more than 30 minutes. But I think the above poster is right. Once you get some fresh air, you should be fine in 10 minutes. Drink some water and use the bathroom before you set off.

I feel bad for your employer. How do people like this get hired?

If you are going to have beer, just plan on not running after.
At 19, I was trying to do 50 mile weeks in the summer. I'd try to do 7 mile runs after 2 - 3 beers in the afternoon. Didn't take me long to figure it was a stupid idea. -
30 min. Fluid in your stomach may bother you but it really shouldn't be an issue. Have done 45 min easy after cocktail hour plenty of times. A workout might be difficult.
-
50 hours. No more, no less.

Oh, I have the opposite problem. I drink and run and sometimes I don't have time to get loaded before a workout, so I wait until I can sneak a few quick sips and then I am off to the races.
-
Unless it is a very strong IPA and/or you are a real light weight, I don't see you having to wait at all before running especially as it's an easy run. Just try and grab the bathroom before hand but that's about it.
Back in the 70's I used to go running quite a bit after all night sessions and you will just sweat it out as your body warms up. -
Serious answer---> being a little tipsy won't affect your run
-
I have drank 4 beers in one sitting before and went and ran 5 miles right after. Just make sure you pick your feet up. I am a woman.

Are you drunk right now? My word, your grammar is downright offensive. -
JUST DO IT.
