Why did you delete the correct answers?
true.
I did not know it.
What does knowing some obscure tidbit of trivia have to do with being a true track fan? Since you yourself are betting that 99% of the people visiting this page don't know the answer, what does that say about letsrun? What does that say about your perception of the letsrun visitors? A very dim bunch we are.

Remembered this from Kenny Moore's book! Booyah.

But I think a more accurate headline would be "Are you a true Oregon fan? Trivia: Please name Oregon's first and only two-time Olympic gold medallist in track"
That is somewhat surprising, but of course, it's easier to get multiple medals in sprints rather than distance, and Oregon is known for distance.

Will Ashton or Galen become the second in 2016?

Galen never won a first gold medal. No way he becomes the next. Ashton will be the best possibility.
I guessed Mac Wilkins but was only 60% confident with my guess.
Walking up to team and jumping 24' and 6'1" with no training is ridiculous. With that kind of explosive power one would think he would have ended up in the 100/200, but bumping him up paid off in becoming the first sub-45 (probably worth sub-43 on today's surfaces):
Cruz has Olympic gold and silver in the 800m.
Amazing, a guy from India ran 45.6 in that final! You'd think there would be more world class sprinters or at least 400m + runners out of a country with over 1 billion

Indians believe in fair sport. They don't dope so they can't get to the level of Americans.

My bad. I was looking over the list for two medals on the track, not just gold. Two have done it with discus, but not double gold.

Yeah seriously. "Men of Oregon" is one of my favorite running-related books (starting once BB starts coach at UO) and having read and re-read many of those chapters Otis Davis immediately came to mind. This was more of a quiz on who has read this book.
Heha, India has one of the worst doping records in athletics. And they still suck. Of course, the U.S. sucks at cricket too.

That book should be retitled (White) Men of Oregon as it gives short shrift to great athletes like Davis, Mel Renfro and Harry Jerome.
Davis and Karl Kaufman (Deutschland) ran identical times, with Davis getting the nod.
