I have met the kid, and he is as dumb as a brick and is also a very cocky guy. Sounds like the perfect Oregon recruit. He has also been being trained like a collegiate athlete by his parents since he started running when he was little, he will be a great collegiate runner, but nothing special like Cheserek has been.
Hunter didn't start running till summer before 9th grade. Look it up. One season of youth track at age 9 or 10 and a whole lot of basketball and baseball.
Who will be Oregon top 7 next year? I'm guessing King Ches,Hunter,Thomet,Maton,Anderson,Tamango,Neuman pretty solid and the odds on favorite for NCAA Cross Country next year. :) GO DUCKS

It'd be hard for him to be as good as a Kenyan who was already a Kenyan national champ in xc before arriving at an American prep school and who has dominated at the NCAA level. Nevertheless, he beat Grant Fisher twice, as a junior (beating a sub 4 minute miler!), he outkicked Justyn Knight as a sophomore at Penn Relays, he is already a 4:02 miler and has run 8:42, making him likely to join Verzbicas in sub 4/sub 8:40 in high school, and he is also a very good xc runner. He started late in running and has a tremendous kick. What is not to like?
