Aren't the same people who are talking about boycotting Starbucks over a cup, complaining that minorities are too sensitive and Americans are weak for getting offended over everything?

I don't drink starbucks because I don't agree with their Imperial view of global domination. They also lie about where their coffee comes from and do not actually participate in fair trade.
It is basically one or two hot heads complaining and every conservative news outlet carrying the story.
I don't drink Starbucks because their coffee sucks. Don't understand why they burn it. Don't understand why everyone loves it.
Not an elitist thing, either. I enjoy La Colombe and illy but give me a 24oz Wawa regular brew and I'm good.

Or the same people that get offended by two guys kissing.

Yes.
That being said, your comparison is not apples to apples.
For the comparison to make sense, the conservative Starbucks strikers would appeal to the government to force Starbucks to use properly themed cups. Instead, they are simply choosing to boycott a company (for a silly reason, IMO, but hey, it's their prerogative.)
Can you imagine a nation in which liberals, instead of appealing to legislators to force their beliefs on companies, chose to simply avoid the people/companies they found offensive? Talk about a win/win!
I am not trying to defend the supposed controversy, but can someone show me a tweet or a post from someone who is actually mad about this? All I see on my Facebook and Twitter feeds are people complaining about the boycott, but no one actually complaining about the cups. I guess Trump is mad about it?
I have suspicions that this is a manufactured "crisis," and I should know since I used to work for a communications company that would manufacture crises on occasion.
For any objective LRC readers who don't have an ax to grind, you'd be surprised who many of these controversies are fake. When you see Mainstream Media stories pop up about racists hating the new Star Wars guy or other issues - both on the right and the left - it is often very clearly a manufactured controversy. You'll see a bunch of new Twitter profiles pop up to start spewing hate and they will often be connected to each other. Just something interesting to think about...
No. Approximately five people in the world are talking about boycotting Starbucks over a cup. How much more time can be wasted on this non-story?
Joshua Feuerstein, some "preacher", posted a rant about it on Facebook and in theory it was reposted 10 million times.

Sounds more like trolling, but whatever...

The War on Christmas starts a little earlier every year!
I hear Starbucks is going to make up for it by having an Easter Bunny tacked to a cross on their Easter cups.

Almost every news story, even the ones on the big networks, are distortions and exaggerations. The film they cut and edit shows only what they want to show. So they'll show crowds supporting or protesting something, but in a way that the percentage and numbers appear bigger and more significant than it really is. It makes it a bigger news story and drives ratings. And Americans eat it up uncritically.
That's why Jon Stewart was such a smashing success with the younger generation. He was basically the only critic of the news media and would expose their biases and distorted stories and emphases. The only problem was that the younger generation never learned to think critically of Jon Stewart. They just gobbled up everything he said without stopping to critically consider if he was distorting things, which is ironic, because the younger generation thought they achieved a higher level of critical thinking by watching the Daily Show, when actually they, like the older generation, never learned to think critically about their main news source.
And there's a ton of critical thinking by the old white men who frequent this beaut

The only accurate remark made by the guy who started this is how it relates to a greater narrative .. but he got which narrative wrong.
This has a 'trickle down' effect .. it's the whining about the War on Christman/Christianity/whatever nonsense .. look at the story of the kid who got DQ'ed, and a a friction GA Congressman takes it up, it was on National News fear (ironically) crissakes ... because it relates to the other big story of the day, Starbucks cups. And there'll be a whole swag of new ones, as well.
All of which was just to get the media off Ben Carson's ass.

Oh, great. This guy again. This is the same genius that made this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pB2RMBzFg6AThis was not manufactured by the media. It may have been blown up by the media but this was started by a right wing, conceal carry, preacher bro who thought he was being brilliant by giving his name as merry Christmas at Starbucks because of their war on Christmas as evidenced by the purely red cups. While standing next to the Christmas blend and advent calendars for sale. This deserves attention because it shows how ludicrous the whole war on Christmas complaints are.
Maybe there are some fringe weirdos upset about the starbucks cups. Fine. But all you have to do if you're a liberal news outlet is act like it's a big deal to a lot of people, then suddenly you have morons thinking to themselves and their friends "man, conservatives are idiots and hypocrites, and so are christians!" without ever having actually met someone who gives a crap about the cups. Its a brilliant way to create an "us and them" attitude in people's minds.

Dude one of your "fringe weirdos" is the frontrunner for the republican nomination for president of these United States. Own it.

Totally relate here. It dumbfounds me how this company is actually successful with flavor profile that challenges the palate in a very bad way. I love the counter culture down to the wawa but can't do Starbucks.
