Mr. Price from Troy State (the almost Olympian) has an "interesting" resume, as a District 2 board rep. posted on the Pike County Board of Education website. He states he has a Masters in Liberal Arts from Harvard University. He does not, and he knows it. Posting fake education credentials on a school board website is inexcusable.
Harvard University DOES NOT have a Masters in Liberal Arts degree program. Only Harvard Extension School does. Attending Harvard Extension School (in person or often online) is NOT AT ALL the same as attending Harvard University. One need only a 3.0 GPA to be admitted. There are no rigorous admissions requirements. Apply with a GPA of 3.0 and pay the fees and you are in. Mr. Price likely "attended" by taking his courses online while living in Alabama. His resume should state "Masters in Liberal Arts, Harvard Extension School".
It really irritates the heck out of actual Harvard grads and the University when extension school grads claim they attended Harvard University They did not.
Mr. Price, please fix your resume ASAP. You are not a Harvard grad and you are being a terrible role model for Pike County students.

Why are you asking him here? Perhaps email him at his BOE email address would be more effective?

You mad, brah?
I did email him. My question was posted for the benefit of this forum. Thanks.

I feel your pain, believe me. It would irritate me as well. But if it really irritated the University, they would eliminate the extension school altogether. Money talks, though.

As someone who interviews people regularly, I see through this crap often. My favorite is someone who says they attended the University of Michigan Flint but say they went to Michigan implying Ann Arbor.
Same for University of Illinois - Chicago trying to pass off as University of Illinois implying Urbana Champaign.
NOt fooled. Resumes go straight to the shredder.
He also claims to be a Doctor. When was the last time you saw the resume or bio of a Doctor (whether of medicine or a Ph.D) in which they listed their undergraduate degree and "Masters" degree but gave no information about where they received their Doctorate? Smells to high heaven.
(Then there is the hysterical newspaper interview in which he says he runs "20+ miles" every day. Yet his recent marathon time was over 5 hours).
I am currently a reporter at the Troy Messenger. I was not here when that article run, but I can tell you that a few in our office are at least aware of this thread. Occasionally in our line of business as a small-town paper things like this can slip through without a lot of vetting. As someone said earlier, this is a fluff piece about a charity run and not something one would necessarily think to vet. Although the claims sound ridiculous, the assertions aren't necessarily easy to disprove either. We have a small news team and by the time we actually caught wind of this thread, it was probably somewhat of a non-starter for us with most people probably not even remembering or caring about Price's listed achievements.
That being said, as Price is an appointed official here and is sometimes a source on internet security issues, Id be interested in any hard evidence disproving Price's claims being given to me here. If you all can manage to drudge up proof that the claims are false, it is something we could run.
Thank you.
