It seems that Kipsang is gone the Geoffrey Mutai way. Age has caught up, it is the way the ball bounces.
NOthing (good) lasts forever. He has no regrets.
NOw we have Kipchoge, Kamworor and perhaps Biwott..
Mary Keitany is a soldier. Great runner!

I half agree with saying Kipsang is done. Although his last 3 races were not all to great, I first believe Kipchoge is just better than him as to why he lost London. In Beijing I think it just wasn't his day and did not prepare enough for the heat. And today, I believe he just didn't have enough time to prepare. 10 weeks is not enough especially considering he had to start training immediately after WC with no rest.
Although it is true that his age is getting up there, I think he is still a solid world #2 behind Kipchoge

Hear, hear.
Kipsang is not used to being 'humiliated' but in his last three races, he's had to take it in. It is very much unlike him.
That is the same way Geoffrey Mutai started. Mutai is done for all intents and purposes. I hope I am wrong with regard to Kispang but something tells me that I am right.
We are okay though as a country. We beat Ethiopia's best runner with our two runenrs Biwott and Kamworor.
Kamworor is our present and future.. I think after Rio (10,000m), he'll now focus seriously on the marathon and he'll be unbeatable!
Tsegay is also very good as is Negesse.
Just my thoughts.
I hate saying that Kipsang is done but I just feel it.
I had the same feeling as I saw him slip into 3rd place..and then into 4th.
I really like him, and he has such amazing running form, but I agree, i think his best days are behind him.
Marathoning has def. changed, more youngsters are starting early and running aggressively. Turnover will be big in the yrs ahead.
He had an incredible marathon just six months ago!
It is foolish to write him off based on races in the heat of Beijing or today's race just 10 weeks recovery/preparation post-WC.
Nobody with sense expected Kipsang to win against athletes laser-focused on NYC. What he does with a proper run-up to a race in April will be worth talking about.
Hmmm ... although it seams like Kipsang is, to a much lesser degree, following both Mutais paths, I don't think you should right him off just yet.
10 weeks to prepare for NY is just not enough to compete at a high level. You could tell from his 10 mile result that he wasn't ready.
Kipsang has that perfect running biomechanics that he's the last person I would doubt ... until father time really starts knocking him out. Let's see what he does in London next year before making that type of conclusion.
Biwott looked very impressive today. The last ten or so that I watched he looked like he was going easy. Great day for Kenya, which is the case after almost every major.
I don't think Kipsang is done. He has just had a bad year. His performance in London was Stellar. I don't know what happened in NYC but I cant write him off just yet. He has not mentioned an injury so maybe it was just tactics or poor preparation at play in NYC. How many races has Kipchoge run this year? And Kipsang? Thank you. You get the point. Plus, maybe those several 10ks, 16ks and other several short road races he ran may have had their toll on him.
To write him off is to write off Lilesa, who has also has a similar year - a Boston win against a weak field is even less remarkable than a London win with a second position beating the current world record holder.
So I wouldn't write him off - yet.
33 years is still young in Marathon running especially when you are not suffering any injuries. He just needs to take a long break and come back rejuvenated.

Yea, this is rather how I feel. If he doesn't win or have an extremely strong performance in April I do think it could be the beginning of the end. It's hard to come back as an older M guy if you start to lose that edge.
Kipsang is just too skinny. You can't stay skinny that long and remain in top fitness, unless you are Mo Farah or a few others who seem to have figured out a way. Your body rebels and says, "are you crazy, I'm starving, quit wasting all that energy and gain some weight." Your metabolism slows down and athletic ability vanishes.
Kipchoge's career is endless because he's not super skinny.
Your obsession with Mo Farah is really really unhealthy , we could be talking about table tennis and somehow you will find a way to inject Mo into the conversation .. Dude, seek help before its too late , I mean for real .. All you talk about is Monaco track and Mo Farah , get a life you loser

What's amusing is that YOU call anyone else out for THEIR obsession with Mo. That's beyond laughable. :)

Easy there tiger. I agree with wiggo's post, it was one of his better ones.
The last time I checked this topic is about KENYAN MARATHONERS not MO FARAH , so who is obsessed here ???
What is the current condition of Kenyan marathoners got to do with Mo Farah ???
Go open a topic about Ice Hockey or indigenous people of the Amazon river in Brazil and Wiggo will find a way to bring up Mo Farah ..Wow just wow
Anyone that has somehow come to the conclusion that Kipsang is done has absolutely no brains. It's barely even worth explaining why it's a stupid comment because it's just boringly obvious. He's 33 for god's sake.
Let me reiterate what I said a year ago.
Wilson Kiprotich Kisang is done.
He was great!
Now, Eliud kipchoge and Stanley Biwott will have to make the team.
AK, if you can't figure it out, just hire me to cobble up a team for you.
ON the women's side, Jemimah Sumgong should make the team.
Mary too. she was just unlucky.
Dennis Kimetto's the one who's done. A raw talent that shone brightly for a short time. Doesn't seem to have the same attitude and work ethic that the Kaptagat boys are known for. He needs to apply his mind and put in the work to compete with Eliud and Biwott.
Wait, Mo Farah isn't Kenyan?
Serious question: if the inevitable decline hits Kipchoge after this race, has he done enough to be considered the GOAT marathoner without an WR or an Olympic Medal? What will be his legacy?
