Hadley will drop out. Grimacing after a slow 10 miles. And ESPN promptly calls her the "future of American running" and plays a fluff piece. Good lord that's awful timing.

Thweat looks very comfortable.
Got a 3 sec shot of Hadley. She looked uncomfortable in that very brief shot. Arms going way across her body. Awkward.
Seems like she got sick a bit ago according to flotrack WOW.
ESPN showing a 5min profile on Alana. At the same time she is about to DNF. Perfect timing.

Do you think they should have cut it?
Come on.
her form looks rough especially her arms... Gonna be a long ride today
How come Alana Hadley does not run cross country??? She looks like she is about to drop dead. What's up with those arms?

I think they shouldn't have planned to air it in the first place. She was not a contender before the race.
Spike Lee on broadcast. What about something that matters (I.e. the actual races)

Why hype a jogger? The 110-120 mile a week thing isn't working.
Men's race is a joke right now. Non elites just pulled away for a minute or two
She doesn't run XC because when she runs against her peers it becomes very apparent that she isn't some special phenom, "the future of American running." When she didn't make Footlocker her sophomore year Dadley decided to pull her from running against her peers so he could continue to hype her to the media.

You don't think an 18 year-old American woman with a 2:38 is noteworthy?
Look, I agree the timing was awkward with her slogging away there, but it wasn't such a crazy thing for the producers to do a spot on her.
And I'm not so sure she'll DNF. Isn't she right on pace for the 2:37 OT QT?
Hadley pulled off to get her ankle taped.
Yeah, she's done.
who are these two guys in front?

Alana responds to the critics in this piece:
http://espn.go.com/espnw/athletes-life/article/14002011/9-criticisms-18-year-old-marathoner-alana-hadley-hears-how-respondsYour men's leaders in mile 9: 36-year-old Habib Mosbah of Algeria, #279, (2:23:25 PB) and Birhanu Dare Kemal, #259, (ran 2:13 to get 5th at Grandma's in June).
WOW. Men's lead pack just split in 2. Arciniaga and meb both in front group

Actually, to most viewers (who aren't here on LetsRun) a random celeb carries more interest than a bunch of guys jogging 5:30 miles. Sad? Maybe. But true.
Hadley should be running her first season for UNC or NCSU ...or most any D1 school. She ran in footlocker nationals as a HS freshman and a 1:16:41 HM as a sophomore. The future was bright... So sadly we will now watch the train wreck .., ouch.
Hadley has 'pulled off temporarily to get her ankle taped'
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
