Pre-season hype getting the best of these boys.
3rd at SEC's. Well behind Arkansas and even Texas A&M.
Not a single guy ran well.

DAMN. I didn't scroll down far enough on the results to see that
Seriously tho... what is happening with this team?
Sure they were clearly overrated early in the year, but how can they be this bad? Last two races have been absolute duds. Erb DFL come on......

He was tempoing the race. Saving it up for regionals.
Did he look relaxed?

Thats what happens when you hire a fad coach, who sells runners from other teams a false narrative. They peaked last year at South regionals. Too late to go back to Syracuse for Erb?
This team didn't run bad today... They were just overhyped cc runners based off mile track prs which doesn't relate to greatness over the hill and dale. I do think they their lack of racing hurt them today. Milers need to stay sharp more so than true distance runners and van hoy only ran the "studs" in two meets prior to this one!

Well I think everyone needs to race to stay sharp. The lack of racing is baffling though many I have talked to admit that practices are harder than races.
Kinda sad we have so little to report in our sport we result to workout documentaries. And we complain about universities dropping XC? Why wouldn't they when you race 2-3 times a year, if that.
Now Ole Miss is falling apart.
Nothing they can do,
A total eclipse of Land Shark.
Yes, they DID run badly. Counting on a few miler types or not, some of the performances were mind-boggling. Erb tempoed it? Get real.
Flotrack, Letsrun, and others have continued to hype this team over the last year or so in xc and in track in large part due to their longing to anoint Vanhoy as the next great young coach. I will admit that I admire what Vanhoy has been able to do so far in his young career and there is no doubt he is still figuring things out and deserves a break or two, but I am not sold. This xc season has been a disaster. Maybe another Vig? Gets solid results in track but not xc? We shall see.

I heard the reason MJ Erb ran so poorly was because he was diagnosed with an STD and he attempted to clear it with penicillin but happened to be alergic. For all we know he was racing with AIDS.
There's nothing worse than an unfunny troll.
John McDonnell's formula was to utilize milers who could run XC. There are too many to count. You can win with milers, as long as they believe they are cross country runners too.
Different era, less depth in those days.
erb fell during the race.
Foot rack clearly overhyped the team. They ranked them assuming Ryan walling had eligibility. They have also been without Wes gallhager. Shit happens sometimes that you can't control.

Van Hoy hasn't done anything but walk into a situation where there was a team full of great runners that someone else (Gavin Kennedy) recruited. Same thing at Northeastern, and got the North Carolina job because the head coach quit and he was the last man standing. He did manage to lure some runners away from their schools and is doing his best to ruin their careers. M J Erb is great example. He owes that guy an apology. Others are floundering, too. Dominic, Gilley. Tobin making the best of it but the team is getting progressively worse under VanHOy.
Kennedy is doing nothing to help Wisconsin. Clearly he didn't help Ole Miss either.
not exactly. wrote:

never said Kennedy was a good coach, but was a really good recruiter.
