Here are the teams that did better than expected. Of the ranked teams, Columbia was the biggest surpriser as they wer the 17th highest ranked team but finished 10th.

Stanford, while not fool strength, obviously was way down there - 19 places worse than predicted. Princeton was 15 spots worse than expected, Ole Miss and Iowa State 13.

What? Mississippi finished 24th at the Wisconsin Invite? The team that was ranked #5 in pre-season? I guess they aren't that good after all. You would think that after the Louisville meet (4th place) and this interview:

That they were going to take the world by storm. These two guys Erb and Domanic predict high finishes at the NCAA meet after the Louisville meet. They may not even make the NCAA field after their showing at Wisconsin. M.J. Erb must be kicking himself for leaving Syracuse for Mississippi. Last year he was their top man at NCAA. After one year at Mississippi, he could barely crack their top five. Had he stayed they would be a legitimate contender for NCAA team title.Check out the Syracuse interview after the Wisconsin meet:

I wonder what that reunion was like with this old team mates. Craig Engels, of Mississippi is the same. He came from NC State and judging from the results at Wisconsin, he could barely make his old team as well. This is what happens when you chase a fad coach (Mississippi) with unproven tactics and a lack of real competitive experience.
