As someone who put in the training to run 3:46 1500 and is now a parent of a 1 year old, I have to assume that elite runners who are also parents must not actually do much parenting.
We have had a kid who is a normal infant and toddler sleeper--not terrible, not great. That still means many nights of being up multiple times throughout the night, holding your kid until you're bone tired, going through early wake up at 3:30 when they're going through developmental leap, etc.
I'm old and happy to get out running once a week, but I just can't see how you could do all those things and still be on top of your running game. Interested to hear anyone's insights...
