I've been entertaining two different jobs. Job A is mine if I want it, already 100% certain. Job B, I was interested in, but wasn't sure whether I was right for it. So I contacted the owner of the company offering Job B to express interest and requested a phone call to discuss the matter. The owner agreed to a 10 minute phone call today. This was not to be a formal interview, just an exploratory conversation. Well this morning I decided I should go with Job A, and since I assumed that hearing from me was a trivial matter to the Job B company owner, I did not call him. Truthfully I was embarrassed that I contacted him one day, then decided I'm not interested the next. So I just didn't call him. This afternoon he shoots me an email saying "You leave a very unfavorable impression by standing up the owner of a company. A professional courtesy would have been a simple phone call to cancel. Don’t bother contacting me again as we don’t have any interest in people that don’t honor their commitments." And you know what? He's ABSOLUTELY FUCKING RIGHT! Even though I decided I didn't want the job, it was so utterly UNPROFUCKINGFESSIONAL of me to requesting a phone call, set one up, and then blow it off. I am just writing all this out to admit that what I did was wrong and concretize the less in my mind. Thanks for reading.
