They might have a shot at Warrior Dash which requires no strength, but they would get SMOKED at the ones where you need some actual upper body strength.

The warrior dash championship is impressive but has he ever done a Color Run? The Color Run seems to be where the real athletes compete!!!
What was the rest on his 100x200m? What times did he run them in?

Isn't that what the Kenyan marathoners are? They just happen to be reall good at 26.2. King is really good at runnng events where there is no rhythm (steeple, obstacle races) but the steeple is too short for him. Not a speed guy.
I'm pretty sure he'd destroy an elite African in a Warrior. Think about it. Mo Farah would beat him by a minute max in a 5k. The race takes 27 minutes so all King has to do is bet him by a minute on the obstacles.
Another humorous post Rojo this is like Comedy Central.
Seriously though it is hard to get my head around a phantom Kenyan or I guess now it is African runner.
How about if I pick him you bring him in and then we can talk some business, deal?
Touché away.

I guess world cross isn't a big race in your neck of the woods...

Why are you so worked up about this? You made your point about seven posts ago.
What distance is this?

Certainly Kenyans are not known for steeplechase.

I am wondering what is Rojo point? If that is ok with you, dear reader.
I think it's awesome and Max is doing what he wants in life, having fun and making some good coin as well. Would be interesting to see what a Kenyan or a current sub 8:30 steepler could do. Also sounds like David Torrence picked the wrong adventure race.
In about 6 months you could easily put on enough upper body strength with minimal weight gain to dominate any of these obstacle course races.
Strength is easy to gain in the initial stages. Your strength gain to mass gain ratio would be sky high. Also some of the more difficult obstacles involve pull-ups or similar activities (monkey bars, climbing, etc)
Give me an elite Kenyan....heck even a B-level road wh0re...and in 6 months he'd beat King by a minute.

When he wins something with actual obstacles, like a Spartan Championship, or the Obstacle Course World Championships, then I will be impressed....
When he wins while hopping on 1 leg and holding his breath the whole way, THEN I will be impressed.
Cry if you want to but he showed up, won and is $30,000 richer for his efforts. The race was open to everyone and anyone as far as I know.
I wonder how many runners made $30,000 or more in a race this year? Heck, how many made $30,000 total from prize money from races this year. I really wish running had a prize money list like golf and tennis have. It would be depressing but interesting.

Our old buddy Hobie Call finished in 4th.
Guess he just used this as a training run in his Sub 2 hour marathon quest. Anyone knew if he wore his weight vest during the Warrior Dash?
Soooo good:

This. Why more runners don't show up to these events and try to compete for $30,000 blows my mind. Max is a sharp guy, works hard, trains hard and runs very well at a lot of different events.Heck of a lot easier for him to win 30k here than at an ultra like Comrades ...and for a 5km course with obstacles that lasts only 20-30min..I'm sure he probably had a lot more fun too!

Your tone's a little condescending considering he's not only a "sharp guy" who "works hard" but also has a marathon PR about 2 minutes faster than yours.

Do you have reading comprehension problems? Sage is praising Max.

Now we're talking. Mo who? Just kidding, love Moe the ruthless killer / warrior.
Sage and Max are two super likeable runners. Nothing but respect!
3 ZAP alums near the top: Mary Ballinger, Thomas Morgan and Ally (Grace) Morgan. Those fire tower climbs in Moses Cone pay off!
